Just finished my first valve adjustment, a lil nervous

    Ah just remembered, you didn't get the full faired version in the USA, so shop time is reduced, as they don't have to disassemble the fairings to get at the engine !
    I'm sure it will be fine, tapping is OK, just loose clearances, nasty noises would be bad, but your report didn't sound like that. Hope all is well & you get many problem free miles.

    Nice write up (would use the Guv'nah thing but dont wana be accused by Squirrelman of being a copy-cat)

    I replaced a noisy cam chain tensioner on my ninja 500 (gpz 500 for the sods across the pong) some noise is ok, big noises are bad.

    Working on these things is all feel and learning thru doing, nothing replaces experience...have fun though...

    So as to resolve this thread finally, i picked up my bike this afternoon from the dealership. It runs beautiful now and has fresh inspection stickers. The total cost to me was $205 and about two days longer than anticipated. The delay was caused by the shop having to do the adjustment on the front cylinders again. I put it through its paces for about 70 miles after i picked it up, and so far no issues.
