LOL I so want to say something smarty pants.., my 4th gen never had any issues below 3K it was carbed.. Now this 5th gen I have doesn't quite have the smoothness of the 4thgen, but I'm not having anything that would get me going WTF. That said, sounds like maybe a lot of you need to go practice on your clutch engagement. No bragging here, just saying. try going out and take off on level ground of coarse and do not apply any throttle and see how you do, in fact once going never get above 2k and get through 3-4 gears, just putts, you may be surprised how it will do... I think. ;)

I haven't had any complaints since remapping. My 07 is as smooth as can be.

The 3K rpm thing is nothing new. Got that advice when I bought a Triumph TR4 from a USAF Test Pilot.. That and topping up the dashpots once in awhile.

While not disagreeing in its sentiment it's not really an excuse for Honda to intentionally roll out a flawed product for a Marketing headline and kinda said as much in belows early thread:

While a bit long in the tooth now the Gen 5's Tech is hardly dark ages, in fact have several times looked in bike shops for a replacement over the last 10 years but have always come away thinking nothing out there suits me better often wishing Honda still made them new, going away on road trips to our Southern states awesome Alpine twisties have often swapped rides with friends on Superbikes, probably the most advanced being a friends S1000rr HP4, outstanding bike to ride with its 200HP nearly telepathically fast throttle, steering, braking especially with its Dynamic Traction control, Race ABS, Dynamic Damping etc but at the end of the ride was internally happier jumping back on my Gen 5 and on real roads it's ultimately not much slower.
