It is an amazing product when used properly. I soak parts in it to loosen up hardened grime. It penetrates really well and doesn't damage paint. We also use it to clean our stainless fridge! It also comes in handy when removing stickers and dissolving glue. Christ, its the lubricant equivalent to duct tape!

When you drive an old car that has a distributor and actual plug wires, you must cary a can in the trunk to dry everything out after going through a puddle. The list is endless, but as already mentioned, it isn't a great lubricant.

I use Purple Power to clean my rear wheel. Works great and I also use it on the swingarm and assorted bits. Even takes bits of chain oil fling off the painted parts. Spray it on, wash it off, with maybe a bit of a light brush with a paintbrush. Of course I use gear lube on the chain so that may make it a bit easier to clean up. Of course everything gets a follow-up wash with soap and water too.

A friend of mine told me that it (WD-40) was made for the long range nuke missiles and what maggot said (water displacement). I have no clue on what you would use it for on a nuke missile. Other than to shine the missile up so that lil N Korea effer can clearly see how screwed he is with that shiny red, white and blue suppository as it flys over and hits his ass.

    'merica!!!!!

Another thing that WD-40 can be useful for is removing road tar from your car. When I used to detail cars for a living we would spray down the sides of the car with WD40 and let it sit for about 15 minutes. You would literally see the road tar dissolve and run down the side of the car. Once it started to run down the car we hosed it down with the pressure washer and soap and VIOLA, no more road tar and no scrubbing required.

A friend sent me this link a little while ago for the company that makes WD-40 and it lists a whole bunch of uses for the stuff. If you have a day or two to spare have a read through.
