I say get the maroon and get a new helmet. Even if you have to buy it. Whats 200 more clams when you just forked out thousands? Not much IMO.

RWB all the way!!! I think the RWB will hold it's value better than the red. Guess which one I picked.

helmets and gear do not have to match bikes nowadays so get the bike that you truely like that is all that matters, especailly since you are paying for it. no post purchase syndrome the bike is awesome and both colors are great and the helemet that doesn't match the bike makes you stand out more .. good luck.. it does not matter what anyone else says even this elf guy i keep hearing about..

One must always look the part when riding. The test is when 2-3 little dudes in the back of an SUV or station wagon are pointing and giggling when pulling up behind them. If they look like they are saying to one another is this guy gay or does he just not dress well, this is probably what they are talking about.

I should have made this a poll! Thanks for all the input. Glad to see lots of people with a preference.

Most of my gear is light silver (almost white with black trim and white riding shoes). I like light colors, too hot here in the South. So will not be out of place on either bike.

Best answer, besides I have never been too fashionable anyhow.

Okay, going to keep the Candy Glory Red (guess I better start calling it correct).

Besides cannot be a copycat.

Maroon is gay.............Just kidding. I like RWB myself.
Go for your heart.............The helmet cheaper then the bike.
like most of the people said ask the dealer to throw in a helmet.

    RWB is the way!

Tough decision but for me, it was RWB only because of the '86 RWB that I watched Bubba, Wayne and Fred race back in the day. Ask the dealer to powder coat the wheels white and then you get to keep your helmet. Seriously, either way, your going to be happy. They are both really sharp bikes but I'm partial to the RWB. Ever since I purchased it, I have searched for a better matching helmet. This new "older" styled Spies replica was bought last week from Helmet Express for $199.00 with free shipping. Yep, it's a carbon fiber helmet. Good Luck! JD

For me, getting new gear is just another reason to get a new bike. My last bike was a black and red Kawi, so I bought a black and red helmet with a matching black and red jacket. My VFR is pearl white, so now I'm in all black everything with a Honda jacket. When asked by my wife why I was buying all new stuff when there was nothing wrong with my last jacket and helmet, I simply replied, "The babes, honey... I gotta look cool!"

Sneaky here with just another reason why it's sooo important to be careful in the wife selection process...

I find that red color stunning. Almost decided to paint the '98 that color.

Ladies and Germs...we have a big baller here. If I said that to my wife, my helmet would be in something instead of on something!

All good and well but the helmet is not near that old!

Okay found a good deal the RX-7 in Red ... was really tough to find one to fit my noggin, since they were discontinued. Also added a new pair of Sidi Streetburners so the helmet would not be lonely in shipping. Got to keep the economy going.

Buy a maroon gas tank, fairing set and helmet. Swap them when you get bored.

RWB vs wine red is a tough choice. I love the classic look. I decided on the red for a couple of reasons. First, people who really appreciate the anniversary edition look are a pretty small subset of a small population...those motorcyclists who happen to follow Honda's road race history and the VFR. Even people who don't know anything about motorcycles think the red is gorgeous. I think it is one of the best looking production bikes ever made.

Of course, that shade of red is my wife's favorite color. When I wanted permission to buy mine, it helped me slip it past the goalie. (Admit it, married guys. We're not imposing 'master of the household' status. We're asking permission.)
