Yesterday I did about 300 miles. I planned on more but wiping my faceshield every 30 seconds along the Oregon coast made me turn inland. No bags for me. Got some on a BMW but rarely use them. Those topcases look like any bike is about ready to hatch an alien critter. I think I may buy one of those GarminBluetoothTomTomCD/DVD things so's I can look at everything on the road except fresh roadkill and the road, shoot the shit with deer and elk who have cellphones and watch Oprah at the same time. May is the byword though. I still enjoy the ride and can push buttons anyplace.

What I do have is a bigass magnetic tankbag from Marsee and (shameless plug) and a Great Basin carryall from Giant Loop. Giant Loop? Moto: Saddlebags for Motorcycles | Welcome

DUDE! If only she was a diesel, you could double that deepfryer as a bio fuel generator!

Maybe consider filing a patent on that one

A patent like that might conflict with some of the rigs here that seem to run on hot air. Then again, enough Jo-jo's and ya got all the methane ever needed. What might be needed is a comfortable filler hose.

Would that be the same midget wrestlers after they lost fighting a Lion in Cambodia ?

" Lion Mutilates 42 Midgets in Cambodian Ring-Fight

An African Lion much like this is responsible for the death of 28 Cambodian Midgets
Spectators cheered as entire Cambodian Midget Fighting League squared off against African Lion
Tickets had been sold-out three weeks before the much anticipated fight, which took place in the city of Kâmpóng Chhnãng.

The fight was slated when an angry fan contested Yang Sihamoni, President of the CMFL, claiming that one lion could defeat his entire league of 42 fighters.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

This campaign is believed to be what sparked the undisclosed fan to challenge the entire league to fight a lion; a challenge that Sihamoni readily accepted.

An African Lion (Panthera Leo) was shipped to centrally located Kâmpóng Chhnãng especially for the event, which took place last Saturday, April 30, 2005 in the city’s coliseum.

The Cambodian Government allowed the fight to take place, under the condition that they receive a 50% commission on each ticket sold, and that no cameras would be allowed in the arena.

The fight was called in only 12 minutes, after which 28 fighters were declared dead, while the other 14 suffered severe injuries including broken bones and lost limbs, rendering them unable to fight back.

Sihamoni was quoted before the fight stating that he felt since his fighters out-numbered the lion 42 to 1, that they “… could out-wit and out-muscle [it].”

    Unfortunately, he was wrong. "

I guess a pretty important question here is.....Do we accept the 7th gen into our domain of the greatest sport touring motorcycle or do we treat it like an outcast. Just like that uncle that drinks way tooo much and no one talks about (Sorry if any of you took that personally). I mean it is a VFR weather we like it or not. The 6th gen is my first sport bike and Im pretty sure it got bad/mixed reveiws for the V-tech. I mean, personally, Ill never own a 7th gen but thats my preference. Just like the discussions on which is the better gen (cough*6th*cough) to each their own.

that's pretty much it. we went through the same thing between 4th and 5th and 5th and 6th gens. The 7th gen riders are gonna have to develop a thick skin hanging out here until enough of them sell and they outnumber everyone like the 6g did... It'll all work out. The bike feels like a VFR to me. Like it or not, it's a V4 sport touring bike with a single sided swingarm. If Honda did nothing else, that's enough for it to be a VFR, and when you ride one, it rides like a VFR. It's very neutral with the steering, well balanced, linear power delivery, growling v4 sound. I think the bike is gonna be around a while, and even if some people don't like, a lot of others will.

I voted no but also voted with cash . . . went looking 1 month + ago with an open mind, and the dealer had 2 VFR's on the floor - a leftover '08 ABS and a 1200 manual. Got the '08 OTD for $8,600. The $15,xxx tag hanging from the 1200's grip made the choice pretty easy as the dealer wasn't interested in negotiating on their first and so far only 1200. The 1200 felt a tich larger sitting on it, but not much. No test rides offered, so I couldn't compare on performance. It is true that the 1200 is beautifully made - though I'm definitely not in the "it looks better in person than in photos" camp. In the looks dept there seems to be no middle ground - love it or hate it. For its lesser displacement and its faults/quirks, IMHO the VTEC is far easier on the eyes than the 1200 - though as the VTEC's recede in the 1200's mirrors the looks won't matter. I just couldn't see 7 grand worth of performance difference considering I got ABS. My plan is to ride the VTEC until Honda produces the 8th gen (please tell me it won't take 8 years - actually, PLEASE tell me they're going to produce an 8th gen and not drop the VFR) and leapfrog the Gen 7. I'm not usually a fan of the hard bag look, but for some reason the 1200 to me looks better with the hard bags on it (maybe more symmetrical? - not sure why) . My $.02.

I sincerely hope you get the opportunity. Please be sure that the Jo-jos you pack or buy along the road are Yukon Golds.

It's a shame those Cambodian midgets weren't Christians. The TV rights would get at least a 35 share anywhere. I thinking maybe somehow the match could still be incorporated into an ad on World Cup or our Super Bowl.

Yup...I remember it well. I actually remember thinking "Gee this thing looks more like an insect but whatever..!" when I first saw the 6th gen. I originally was looking at getting a used 5th gen at the time but found out I could afford the 6th gen - and that's how I got Angela.

Happens with every gen of VFR IMHO

    Winner Winner, chicken dinner.

I actually started out thinking about the new VFR until I saw the 16k price tag. Suddenly the 6th gen was back on the list. While I think both bikes are great (7th gen from what I've read on it's stats - I haven't ridden one yet) I don't see the seven grand difference for what I want in a bike. I have to say the shorter range is a knock too. Hopefully they'll come in black next year & I can have a go!

I wouldn't at this point if I was in the market, too many other cool bikes out there to try.
Plus, I didn't like the way it looked, even in person. Too bloaty... is that a word?
My RWB is fat enuf as it is, and I've trimmed some things off her.
Love this '07 bike a lot tho!

The 1200 hard bags are smaller than on the 6th gen, i think the 1200 looks better with the bags than my 07 did, more aggressive from the back. The 07 bags seemed too wide and out of proportion. Either way having lockable space for rain gear and a thermos is a plus for commuting. I don't like the top box. Funny the big givi top box on my vstrom k6 dl1000 looks just right and holds a lot. I will just bungee a big duffel bag in back of the 1200 for trips. my girl has her own bike so i don't have to go two up.

I voted nope, I would not consider buying the new VFR. It is a nice bike but not for me. I am sticking with my 5th gen VFR and I have an 03 R1. I personally prefer the ST1300 or the FJR 1300 for what I want to do - the new VFR is still a nice bike.

Oh yeah I also forgot to mention - I personally would never buy a new bike unless it is a leftover or I can buy it at cost. A lot of people seem to be interested in riding and spend a lot of money for a new bike and then decide they do not want to ride. There are also alot of guys who have wives and girlfriends who will not let them ride. The 03 Yamaha Special Edition R1 I recently purchased had only 3k miles and was from a dude whose wife did not want him to ride. The guy was hiding the bike at his friends house and it was completely stock when I bought it (I still had to scrub in the tires lol). I got a real good deal on the bike and really like it. I also saw an 05 Yamaha R6 with only 26mi where I got my R1. The new VFR sales may pick up if the Honda dealers can offer a better price and there may be a chance to pick up a leftover 2010 next year at a good price. I am still not interested in the bike but have nothing bad to say about the bike. For the money I would check a BMW before thinking about the new VFR.
