Yes, guns solve a lot of problems, bit like drugs.

Yeah, I don't take drugs either when I go under the knife.

When you go under the knife, a highly trained surgeon is wielding it.

So I've read all the posts above and I have just one two-part question: Jev., who is that in your avatar pic and do you have any more pics to share? :biggrin-new:

About who controls the revolving prison doors of privately run prisons: Easy to understand the leverage applied to parole boards, reporting of prisoner behavior, treatment of the incarcerated, both physically and mentally, and internal programs designed to reduce recidivism. Like I say, the profit motive is to keep them there, and to bring them back if they do get out.

But I so much hear your angst about the lack of real punishment for some types of crimes and the criminals who commit them.
Last year in this area a child was killed, while riding in the back seat of a minivan. The car was rear-ended at a stoplight by someone who was drunk. It was reported that the at-fault party had been arrested and convicted of that offense before. Twelve times. 12. To me, there should have been zero chance of his being able to get even a fourth arrest for that specific crime. So, who should be held accountable for the death of the child? This will be a long list:

    1. The dude hisself. Life behind bars, toss the key.
    2. The judge(s) who let him go with anything less than hard time, for each arrest/conviction beyond the third one. If a single judge saw the dude more than once, off the bench he or she goes! OUT!
    3. The friend/relative/whoever owned the car he was driving, if he did not own it himself.
    4. IF he did own the car, whoever had the insurance put on it, so that it could be licensed. In Michigan, proof of insurance has to be supplied before a vehicle license is issued.
    5. If the dude was a "regular" at any local watering hole, whoever poured his last couple of drinks prior to the wreck, and, whoever let him walk out the door to the parking lot.
    6. Any attorney who had helped him plea bargain, avoid incarceration, or get back into society, beyond say the 6th offense. After that point, a person should be branded "indefensible".

There are probably more, but you get the idea.

The court rooms here can also be swinging doors, particularly when it comes to some types of criminal activity.

Looks like the wall is going to be built, don't know if it will stop them, might slow them down a bit. Worked in Germany because they had machine guns up on top of the wall

The guy did have a couple of stints in prison. No information about the ownership of the vehicle he was operating. Mentioned elsewhere was that the MSP investigators estimated his speed to be 89 mph.

Nelix, they will pay for it one way or another, if they don't stump up the dough, he will shut down their economy and they will pay for it that way, more than one way to skin a cat, and Trump will not loose face on something so big as this
