The flooding and bogging might be caused by the same thing. When you had the carbs apart did you inspect the float needles and needle seats? If the seats have grooves worn in them or if the tip of the needle is worn the needle won't close all the way.
I'm confident that they aren't related. After licking the issue that I started this thread for I put about 4k on the clock with no discernible issues. I checked the needle and the seat on the flooding carb and found...... NOTHING. Big surprise there hahaha! The needle still has a fine sharp point and the seat is immaculate. I'm really hoping there was just a little speck of something in there that fell out when I disassembled never to be seen again.
