If this is in response to what I wrote, I didn't mean that you yourself were soliciting or to beat you up. I am fine with the way you handled it. I would guess that at some time, most of us have driven drunk. I know I have, more than once, a lot actually, but not for a very long time and I was lucky enough to never be caught. But I was a bartender for years, and certainly drank every night I worked and most nights I didn't. I still remember sliding my car around the corners of a very twisty road near my home on more than a few occassions, all winter long in the snow I was tail out. But hey, I was driving a very highly engineered 'vette. Chevette that is! ;-) Obviously a very sporting ride, with a suspension & handling beyond reproach! ;-)

no one was hurt, is lucky, but the potential is still there

having worked in the bar and restaraunt industry for years, where people tend to drink far more than the general public, I have seen my share of friends, customers & SOs popped for DUI, but also been to the hospital to get them...

like when you have someone get 2 or 3 years for attempted murder?!?! What the heck is that? If the intent was there, and they tried, why do they get next to nothing because they are a bad shot. Especially when it is a cop, and they get 3 years, but if it wasnt' for the vest, or if the person actually knew how to shoot they would be on death row? that doesn't make sense to me. They still tried to do it, and I for one would rather not have some one who is so out of society, that they are willing to take pot shots at a cop. That is not a person I want walking the streets. Put 'em away for life!

There almost certainly has to be more to this story than that...
unlawful pass, even reckless driving added in, wouldn't usually add up to a felony. There can be, depending, a felony reckless driving, but that is usually reserved for the most egregious or driver/riders.

although no line at all may mean a one lane road.

so at 0.10, would you let your pilot fly like that?
    your child's bus driver?
your child, if you have one of course, in the back seat of a parent driving him or her home?

I have seen video, and have to beleive it is out there on the net somewhere, where they put people in a car on a track, or even a road course in a parking lot with cones and have them drive a loop. Timing their progress. Then they get a drink , do a breathalyzer test and do another timed loop. Then another drink, and so on. It is pretty enlightening to watch. Impairment happens much sooner than you would think. Times generally stay flat or improve a little initially, probly to do with growing familiarity with the car and/or track. But then they quickly begin to drop off, and cones start to get punished. Most people also feel like their times are still getting better and that was "their best run yet!".

I've seen those tests, and it is true booze quickly effects judgement, reflexes everything you NEED to operate any vehicle especially a bike. I love your sliding story Spike! I was picturing some hotted up Vette. Thanks for mentioning something as I was responding to you mostly. No big deal I'm just a bit sensitive with all thats going on. At least the flooding is getting repaired!

I was certainly impaired as I know the intersection that I took a right on red at and FORGOT THE STUPID SIGN!!!! So yes, I was clearly not "strait", nor was I plastered, but I agree I wouldn't want my kids in the car when I was like that, so the state and anybody else could fault that.

Today I wrote Governor Kaine about the bend over fees that Virginia has implemented. Mostly to put a face and a story to an otherwise amorpheous issue, they are crushing folks out here, is sure to go to Supreme court of VA. Up to 2500$ for 20 over OUCH!! You are probably right about that felony pass, if you give the officer a hard time or whatever who knows what they are allowed to charge you with, and folks lie like a rug.

If you saw Drudge the other day a woman got fined like $1500 for speeding to Hospital pregnant, man they are not kidding, I'm sure she'll get off,,,, me not so much I bet....

Tbones!!! Shout out to Mondovi!! I'll stick so long as I have the bike, and every day we make it financially makes that a bigger possibility.

Im sure you guys are sick of this Fing thread :deadhorse::lever:

No, it is the oil threads that are serious that I'm sick of

Hey VaRolOn ; Sorry to hear about your misfortune, this is what we call in AA life on lifes terms. And sometimes life hands folks a real bad situation. We all know drinking ,drugging and driving/riding is wrong. For some of the guys that came down heavy on you, I would say they did similar acts and maybe worse but didnt get caught. Call me crazy, but why do they allow Bars to operate, when they know people must drive to and from them.Speaking for myself I never went to a bar and had just one or even two, and with my size two drinks would probably put me over the limit. Anyway I am not condoning drinking and driving and I know families have been shattered due to it .My bet would be get a lawyer who specializes in this type of case and learn from the experience. If you are more than a casual drinker, I bet there is an AA meeting less than 15 minutes from home, In AA people will embrace you and show you how to live a better life. Best of luck my friend. eddie cap

That's the irony Eddie, I don't really drink anymore. A couple of beers once or twice a week. The stress of the flood did make me want to drink more than normal, and that is a bad sign as far as drinking. I used to drink alot in college, but with growing up and kids its just not worth it to me. I am sure ASAP will require me to go to meetings and explore my drinking so we'll see, I have too good a life to screw it up with alcohol that's for sure.

Nozzle, my best friend was trying to get me to go to the races, but I have folks coming to finally put in our carpet downstairs so I'm out. Have fun if you go!

If the folks are coming in to put in carpeting, why do you need to be there? Wouldn't you be better off getting out of the way? I mean the smell of the padding might make you and your family sick.

I'll know Friday if I can get a hall pass from CINCNOZHOUSE
