    I think you are on the right track with looking at the pulse generators. Checking the ground is not a bad idea either. Here's something that might sound far-fetched but worth a quick look: is your main fuse ok? I've seen it where the fuse partially blows but still have some contact. This allows enough juice to pass to run the starter but the ignition does not have enough voltage to properly generate the spark. It's an each check at least!

    Hey Jamie, thanks for the help. Main fuse was a problem when I got the bike. The fusible link had been replaced with a standard glass fuse and everything was corroded. I've cleaned up the fuse block and got a better fuse to use until I order the correct parts. But yes, I did consider the fuse as a problem, which it was. When I put the new battery in, I couldn't get any power at all. That's when I swapped out the corroded fuse and then I had power. I plan to look at every single connection this weekend. Hopefully I can find a pulse generator.
