I'll start with: I do not have the cash. Followed with: I'm at west side in Los Angeles After taking the bike to the mechanic for a general inspection, I was told that cylinder #3 is at about 75 pounds. It needs a top end rebuild. Obviously, the bike is not worth that kind of money ($2500ish). Why: Since I DID buy this [first] bike with the original intent to learn and become more mechanically inclined, maybe this is worth a tackle. Also, I LOVE my VFR... I would hate to get rid of it. I'm looking for: - Someone who is actually experienced in engine (at least top end, V4) rebuilding. - Someone who is interested in teaching/instructing/helping me side-by-side to tear it down, clean, fix, rebuild, etc. and put it all back together to good running condition. - Maybe if you have an actual garage/workshop and tools, it would make this much easier. I have a wrench set, a tandem parking spot and that's about all I've got. Bike: 1986 VFR700f Timeframe: Hopefully not more than 2 weekends Compensation: Totaling a couple hundred bucks and some beers, a new friend, and a great feeling of accomplishment! Post/PM me if you are interested! I know, good luck finding someone... but: Thanks in advance!
I would do it for beers but I am in Sacramento. You really need to do a leak down test and try to determine if it is rings or valves......two different jobs to be sure.
