I got 6,000 miles, so I was thinking of replacing the brake pads?

If memory serves the space between you and the dude in front in a cage of one sort or another is supposed to be at least a car length for every 10mph. Another factor is that withoot link type brakes less experienced riders (this used as a liberal term) will jam on the rear brake, lock up the wheel, grab the front brake and kiss the asphalt real hard and get run over by the asshole in the cage that ain't got a clue aboot driving.

001177_542 (16).jpg IMGP0328.jpg Your talking about some of the best cars in braking, well that's bullshit-the average car is lucky to have working brakes at all especially up here in Maine where they run cars into the ground and then put another 100,000 miles on them and logging trucks that need a mile to stop-over weighted too-100,000 pounds. My own car might be able to stop as fast as a vfr because it has special street racing pads with speed bleeders and SS lines and extreme duty front rotors and abs and weighs around 2700 pounds, but I would bet my car can't stop as fast due to the vfr's only about less than 700 pounds with me on it. In any case the vfr is one fast braking machine. I just have a hobby and like to see if I can brake even faster than the Next Guy which I can. And if I blow my motor using 10-50 , I will donate the bike to the animal shelter-this will never happen in fact the 10-50 helps the engine not hurt it. I am the VFR King and know Everything!:bs::chairshot::bluesbros::banana::bootyshake2::flip:

I think we are close to reach an agreement on brake pads, what is the best oil is still debatable.
Somebody please post instructions on how to change pads on a 6th generation, otherwise I need to find it on my own and I'll be changing them soon. Grrrracias.

EBC FA 261HH lowest price is around $33, you need two-so $66. If you can find a cheaper place let me know-that's amazon price.:snowman:

I put that corvette in there as perspective, it can stop at least 20 feet shorter than a sportbike. Any newer passenger car with abs can rival a sportbikes braking distance. I think your confusing actual braking facts with the feeling of deceleration on a bike. A bike feels like it's stopping faster than it actually is. I have seen people during brake exercises during road courses think they are stopping fast from 50-60 but in reality they don't. They are afraid to drop it and are terrified to buff it. A driver in a car just mashes a pedal and the car does the rest. And vfr king eh? Maybe so, but to be crowned that you must log onto Vfrd.com and post all your findings on the best mods and oil. Then they will see that you are truly the vfr king and give you said title.

    From the service manual:

Brakes page 1.jpg Brakes page 2.jpg Brakes page 3.jpg

Looks like you can just compress the pistons by pushing from the outside w/ the caliper still mounted. Probably a good idea to remove the caliper & spray some brake clean in there to remove any road cheese that may have accumulated around the pistons.

FYI: Cars out braking motorcycles has more to due with tires than brakes. Specifically the contact patch area, as in cars have a lot more rubber on the road. Weight distribution over the contact patches also has something to do with it.

See my post #3, probably one of the simplest jobs I have done yet, dirty but simple. One trick I found was using a third worn pad in the caliper to pry against to help compress pistons 100% for thickness of new pads.

Pads are replaced if thickness is near minimum, not according to any mileage since new.

Well I just ride 20 miles on some rough roads-going down 1/2 pound of air F+R-33,36-just haven't found a better air pressure then that-for rough roads. I didn't fall down, still waiting for my super light weight battery. I guess that's tomorrows job. Engine very happy today, I now run half 87 and half 89! My Mr beer takes forever to finish brewing. Found a new Flea treatment-viniger and dawn mixed together gets rid of flea.:laser::nelson::caked::tinfoil3:

Happy as I am to know you have found a solution to your fleas, are you aware of the recall on those batteries that if tilted too much or as in your case when your bike next tips over, the batteries are exploding. 37 harleydoods were lost in May alone. They can't be blamed for trying to save some extra poundage but to die from being blown to bits is too horrible to even imagine.

RIP my harleydood bros, I will see you in the big motorcycle shop in the sky someday. SOW may be there too, telling Jesus and St.Pete how it hangs and showing all the emoticons he has tucked away.

Front FA3898HH, rear Fa261HH, 2006 had different pads then a 05-02 in front. Lowest price in front was $67.

this is true -the pads aren't gone, but the oem Honda pads suck-they grap all at once, I would bet the EBC wouldn't do that. its called trail braking something I actually know how to do!

I would think a smart dude like you could find a pic of the mach 1 91 really easy. The 1200 is still a stocker and any pic of one will do. What you mean really is bikes but since you really don't know all that much about bikes to begin with so why worry?

Another reason might be that fooling around with those shemales you may have some vision impairment from pubic hairs making your eyes water. Close up and personal is not always a good thing.

Historically I had a trike when I was two and a bicycle a year later. Motorized trikes (three wheel ATVs) were banned as import when several folks were killed on them.

Spoken like a true novice that hasn't learned brake control yet. May be if you smear a little 10w-50 synthetic oil on them they won't grab so hard.

Just remember to bed the new brake pads in. You may have to look that up. Not only how but why. Specially if you put new rotors on. I'm sure the OEM rotors are junk too.:cower:

If you rely on trailing braking then you are doing it all wrong. It is a good buzz phrase to impress your buddies, cause the big boys do it that way...............
