Just thinking out loud... Anyone ever wonder if BB and SOW are the same person?? Does anyone know either of them in real life? They seem awfully fond/playful with each other and BB seens to know a lot about SOW.

 

OP, try the "ignore" function for one. If you (and others) stop responding to the threads/comments of others that are annoying, they will get bored with you and move on. They get a rise out of you getting your panties in a bunch, so the more bunchin' that they cause you, the more they are keep on pestering you.

Most importantly, you need to grow thicker skin if little comments like SOW makes really get to you. The internet is full of annoying people, and no matter where you go there will be someone that annoys you.

 

The mods here are pretty laid back. Which is one of many things that makes this a great site. Unless he gets vulgar they aren't going to step in. Why let him run you off from here?? Life is short...live...love...laugh.

here are 3 great options......... I do all 3 !!!

(1) laugh at him...every circus has a clown
(2) ignore him...every village has an idiot
(3) pony up $20 to become an insider and go enjoy jev's pics ...they will make your eyes smile!!

 

Switchblade is a member on VFRD and although he does post quite a bit, he actually has some valid information and does contribute positively, at least IMO. SOW on the other hand post misc BS and floods the thread with useless information and opinions on stuff based on who knows what. For those of us who have real experience with the VFR and other motorcycles know that what he contributes is rubbish, but for newbies, not so much.

That is the danger of his post, someone might actually take what he says as truth and run with it or it could cause a battle amongst those with valuable/usable information causing confusion and possibly make the new member feel caught in the middle and decide it's too uncomfortable here and leave.

Although for the most part I chose to ignore his post I do sometimes take time to bust his balls as this forum does allow us that. Much like our society, freedom of speech goes both ways, we can say what we want to a certain extent but it also means so can anyone else. So by banning SOW, who else gets banned? I'm sure a few would say BB, but for as many annoying/intruding post he has done he also has contributed positively. So far though, SOW has not contributed positively, at least IMO and could be a litmus for criteria for banning someone. If more than 2/3 of your post are just fluff and full of emoticons, then maybe you'd be a good candidate for banning!

 

Its easy to ignore. But as OOTV said a noob might get some very wrong info. That is really the only problem I see. He does not attack anyone. I actually laugh at him sometimes. I had my run in with BB when I joined but I think it was more of an initiation than anything as I find a lot of his post very informative and his hosings funny.

 

I'm sure that one or two have wondered for aboot five seconds. One of the reasons I seem to know a lot aboot SOW is that I have a second cousin that's a proctologist.

I can only imagine the joy with which SOW is reading this debate centered on him. Personally, I find him harmless. Certainly not worth getting heated over. And giving him the power to run you out of what is an otherwise terrific forum seems silly to me. I don't mean to make light of your frustration. Ignore the guy if he bothers you. Whether that's with the ignore function or by simply not reading or responding to his posts. I get the concern that new members might be led astray but I don't think it's too much of a concern in reality. Just about anything SOW posts is shot down immediately as useless dribble. Anyone visiting the forum can't help but quickly learn that SOW's suggestions/opinions/statements are to be viewed with caution.

Of course, that leaves the concern with how our forum will be viewed by others. Are we a group of passionate motorcyclists with valuable knowledge that is generously shared among our members and visitors? Are we a diverse, welcoming, at times funny, at times crazy, group of guys (and maybe even a few women who lurk in the shadows)? Are we made up of different races, different ethnicities, different cultures, different ages, different careers, backgrounds and education levels, none of which is highlighted, all of which takes a back seat to what matters most here - our love of the VFR. I don't believe a single person, SOW or anyone, can tarnish what we have going on here. At least, not to a degree having any lasting impact. So long as SOW isn't intentionally putting out misinformation that could harm a rider or his bike, my position is that he be free to post here. Whether you ignore him or engage with him is up to you. I fear that the name calling and negative posts do more to damage our image as a good place to visit and hang out than the postings, as ridiculous as they may be, of a single member.
