    $3600 all stock seem a little high....
$3200 would be my offer if I really like the bike.
Take your time the right bike will come.

I agree....$3600 too much, but he WILL NOT budge. I offered him $3300 and he shot me down. Says he'd rather just keep it.
Pics don't do it justice....it's immaculate.

If you didn't care for the VTEC before, you still won't care for it. Mechanically the 07 & 09 are identical. If all you really want is a black bike, get another set of fairings for the 99 in black. Heck, even if you don't haggle the price down, you can get a Sargent seat, Givi hard cases, black fairings, replace the condom mirrors, and Helibars and still come in under the cost of the 09!

Oh, and I paid 3200 for my 99 and it is nowhere near as nice as the one in your pictures. But I really wanted my bike and there were no others available in my price range.

You guys are so lucky. VFR's rarely pop up here and when they do, they are expensive. I paid $5k taxes in for a minty 00 in blue with 56k kms. :(

Well, tonight I go see the tax man. I'm going to wait and see how good (or bad, as the case may be) my tax return is, and maybe I will pony up what the guy wants. Hell....the bike is beautiful, it's 40 miles away, and it ain't worth $300 to me to drive to another state to find a nice 1999 VFR. They are out there, but most are 400 and 600 miles away.
Marriedman, the black 09 I mentioned is in Dayton Ohio....where you are at.

Then it is at Sporty's Trikes and Bikes. You may have talked to Pete, I am pretty sure he is the owner. My daughter goes to school with one of salesmen daughters. That bike is beautiful, sat on it last summer when Pete did some work for me on my VFR.

Little inside info, he has had that bike almost a year and it is taking up valuable space in his small showroom. He bought it at an auction too (or so the sales guy told me), it was most likely a repo by a bank. Only thing wrong with it is that it is dusty from sitting! Oh, new tires may be in order since they are original and may have cracks forming on them.

May have been Pete, not sure who I had on the phone.
I remember asking the guy how long they had it, I forget what he told me. He did say it came from an auction, that a car dealer took it in on trade and then just auctioned it rather than try to sell it. Didn't know they had it nearly a year, and why the hell would a nice VFR like that sit there so long?? Price is NOT out of line at all, so I don't get it. He said he's firm on the price, I asked him. Don't know how far I should push it, I guess he's pretty dumb if he begrudgingly holds the current price and it sits there for another year. Tires would def be an issue for me....I'm an ex racer and good tires are an obsession with me.....those originals would have to go.

I think that's the right approach. If you like the bike - and considering it looks clean - don't let someone else spend, or not spend, your money.

I say if you're happy with the price, go get it.

There aren't many VFR's in the Dayton area that I have seen. I have seen 2 7th gens, 1 other 5th gen (mello dude) and a handful of 2nd & 3rd gens. Cruisers and crotch rockets seem to rule around here.

I just realized you said $7K and on CL he has it at $8100. So he has come down already. Still, $200 towards tires is not unreasonable concession to make especially since I know it has been there that long.

I tell you what - as a backup plan - if you get this black beauty and decide that you made a mistake... I'll trade you my 5th gen for it. I know, I know... you are thinking, "I don't know this guy from Adam, why would he do that for me?" Well, it's just the kind of guy that I am.

No dude....he RAISED the price $1000. A week ago that bike was $7100 on CL....I have the CL ad saved in my favorites from back then, and $7100 is what it said.
Well, for $8100 I don't want it. So the 99 it is......
Did pretty good at the tax man's house....2 grand coming back. Also have a guy coming to look at my KFX400 Saturday, so hopefully it sells, and everything will work out good. Hopefully....

Well, this is real effing nice. This guy with the 99 has decided, FOR THE SECOND TIME in this negotiation process, that he doesn't want to sell the bike. He did it a few days ago, and now he's doing it again. This time he says he has pulled both ads off of the internet (CL and Cycle Trader) and is just going to keep it. It's a pattern of total indecision by this guy...he told me while I was up looking at this bike that one time he sold a bike, and older VFR I believe it was, and 2 days later he called the guy that bought it and asked him to sell it back to him!! This kinda tcks me off....I was prolly gonna give him the $3600, but I guess that went out the window all together now....
I see some nice pre-VTEC VFR's in the classifieds on this site....perhaps one or two of them will take PITY on me and make me a deal worth driving 400 miles for....

Damn, that guy is shifty! You are better not doing business with him. What town do you live in? I have a CL query running all the time for VFR's just because I like looking at them!

and there is a pearl white 06 in my area, under 8K miles for under $5000. I'll go look if so requested. On CL.

Darn, that is insane. I am sure you can find other VFR's for a better price than that.

Better price, yes. 16,000 miles, superbly clean, and only 40 miles from my house, not likely.
Just sent a message to a guy on here with a 99 in Crestwood Illinois.....400 miles away. Hopefully he responds soon to my questions.

Those are VTEC bikes. Not what I'm after, but thank you. I MIGHT have considered the black one in Dayton, but beyond that one I'm looking for pre VTEC machines, 98-01. And I am near Lodi Ohio, south of Cleveland.

Oh, I must have had you confuse with another thread then. I posted those because I thought you were looking for the 6th gen.
