Hmmm... that is the oddest Honda VIN I've seen. The strike-out is interesting. And that number seems strangely even and on the nose.

    But the font looks correct.

found this on the forum the other day.

"Can anybody provide actual RC24 production #s for the North America? I did a little research and found this spreadsheet on some russian dudes blog. He claims it came from the Haynes manual.

Ive come across at least 20 of these bikes since they caught my interest 10 years ago. The highest LEGIT North America Frame # Ive seen was in the 1600s. It looks like the info in the Haynes manual is incomplete. Can anybody confirm???

    UK models
    Engine number Frame number
    VFR750F-G (1986) RC24E-2000101 to 2013035 RC24-2000068 to 2009621"

and mine is RC24-2000100 some of the original story seems sort of documented and ligit. Maybe your connections have more info?

I also have the Euro Flasher/ headlight off options on the controls that I didn't think US received.

It's def Euro. The US didn't get the 88 - 89. I think it looks legit for an 89 (maybe 88?).

All our bikes in the U.S. are 17 digit.

    Now about that title...

Finally, the title came in!! It is legit on the documentation side concerning Pennsylvania. Now it is time to get it into Cali. No engine number on paperwork or engine. Strange. This bike is so weird. I think it might be a UK hack shop with an inside person in Penn DMV. :D

Whew!!! Great news. That is a strange bike, but it will be cool. And you'll have one of the few 88 - 89 VFRs in the States.

    Oops.. I mean "86"... wink-wink.

Well, thanks for the starter info, that worked excellently and only took like 15 min to swap. Now for the next item. This bike refuses to idle without choke. I am in the process of removing the carb and found one tube just hanging out. I was wondering if you knew if this tube should be sealed or left open? IMG_2516.JPG

Well... shit. How in hell do they think that the engine # is reported stolen when no one else tracks them? JFC.

Do all out of state transfers have to be inspected in CA?

Yep, I even gave the CHP a little grief about why Cali is the only state that gives a s*&^. It is stupid, I may try and sell it to my buddy in Arizona and at least get it in the family.
