Put my '84 VF700 in the shed with carb issues at 49,000+ in '08, picked her up new in '85, kids/wife/work kept the miles down ... picked up my '07 new in '08 (see how that worked), have 29,000+ on her now, she shares ride time with my Mille/XRR so miles not accumulating that quickly ...

Great post! Most of us are not aware of the qualitiy of thsese engines. 452.000 miles on single VFR800 engine (800.000 miles on a frame) that could have lasted longer if he had spotted the faults... AMAZING!!!

Mine has clocked 92.000 km (57.500 miles) 1998 VFR800x and still pulling like the first day. 3 track days under the belt and only basic maintenace. (fork seals, brake pads, one set of front discs changed at 90.000kms, oil and filter each time every 8000/10.000km) and one valve adjustment at 40.000 where no adjustment was needed!).

Thats the doode that complained about the centre stand rotting oot after 500,000 miles. I got 80,000 on a 91 and 18,000 on a 93. 91 runs faster than the younger one. 04 EX500 aka GPZ500 turned 27,000 a few days ago, bought it in 07 with 1,700 miles for $1500, what a deal :loco: YSR50 has no speedo but its an 89

8300 miles-4700=3,700 were miles I did-vfr 800 06 abs brakes. But all my miles were very short-longest a 200 mile ride. I am the king of low Mile rides- I like to sit on it and look cool that way it never wears out:joker:

Mine hit the 188,500 km mark last night on my commute home in the pissing rain. You will have to do the math. 1.6 km to the mile. I suspect I will hit the 200,000 km mark in about a month and half.

OK. Back at the computer instead of the hemeroid device. Did the math. Well a converter did. Over 117,000 miles on my 06. ALl of them mine, or at least, I was with the bike riding someone else's when they were put on.

Was just thinking on the commute home wee hours of the morning today, the bike seems to be running a little rough. I think it is time to spend some money on it and have someone who is compitent mechanically, to bring it back to its former glory. Maybe it is time for the valves to be done and maybe chain tensioners to be looked at. Just don't know. But it can run better I am sure.

I wish. BC is burning. We have recruited firfighters from New Zealand and Australia, a few hundred of them, to help fight the forrest fires. We have air quality warnings out everwhere. We need rain.

Haven't quite hit that mark yet. Bike hasn't really moved much in last couple months. Got laid off work so no commuting. But I did have the valve clearances checked and all is fine. Routine maintainance is ksy IMHO. I think a coolant flush is due though.
