I agree with much of what you've said. If you keep yourself fit with walking, cycling, and the gym, there is no need to give up motorcycles unless you develop a physical problem that prevents you. When I was 65 I rode my 4th gen. 900 miles from North Carolina to Ontario, Canada in 13 hours just to see if I still could. Not a problem. Didn't even ache the next day.

No, but it will make an 80 year old feel like 40 year old!

I'm 80 and still riding--have a '16 Ducati Scrambler and a '13 Honda CB1100. Wish I still had my '05 Interceptor but some guy decided to run fast in morning traffic and I was stopped in traffic just over the hill---totaled my bike and almost me. Wanted to get 100,000 miles on it---had 75 thousand when wrecked. Do love my Scrambler though, only problem is it wears out my riding shoe soles. No feelers on the footpegs! Ride the mtns in NC around Asheville NC.

I rode a tricolor VFR until last year. I am 72 now. I am a diabetic, and sometimes I get
hypoglycemia, so I quit riding it. I now ride Suzuki Boulevard M50 with a sidecar....

VFR is not really bike for younger people and not very popular bike. The most of VFR riders in a Japan are 50 plus, and probably are not so different in North America. VFR used to be police bikes in Japan

62 and riding a 99 VFR. Never had an accident or problem with it. Love to ride it. My 95 Suzuki DR350 is another matter. 6 fractured ribs, fractured vertebra and broken collar bone in August. Still recuperating. Should have stuck with the street and vfr.

Sure i'm among the top 8 percent of currently-riding older VFR adherents, but only rode 2 different RC24's and an RC36 once or twice for a 15 mile summer season riding total, just to keep then going. preferred the smaller bikes and did 90% of my 16 mile almost-daily commute to the shop on my Hawk or a Radian.

30K miles logged on my '06 VFR over the last 3 years - lovin it !!!!!
Then when turning 60 and wanting to add a dual sport toy, the wife didn't want me spending the money. So I say to her, "Well, I'm turning 60... maybe I should wait until I'm 65... no wait, maybe I should get a dual sport when I'm 70." Then she understood! The DR650 is in the garage next to the VFR, 2 mtn bikes, 2 road bikes... "It's a sad day when I need 4 wheels!" But Tucson, AZ is pretty dry, so I can't complain too much, eh?

For my 64th I added a purebred sport bike to the stable parked right along with the Viffer and the scrambler ;) Who says sport bikes are for the young guns. Age is only a number.

Just got the 91 VFR750 @ 72. Been riding a SV650S for 14 years. Rode the VFR for the first time 50 miles two days ago and it was a rush compared to the SV, really loved it. Yesterday I took it to one of the roads I loved best when I had a GSXR1000 and honestly found I don't have "it" anymore. No doubt I need to ride it more than 100 miles but I remember ripping around corners on the GSXR blasting beads of rubber off the Pilot Powers into the face mask of my mentor on another GSXR. I can't go there anymore, guess I'm to aware of how long it now takes to heal. That said the VFR is a blast. I wish I discovered it sooner. It will be my keeper if it proves reliable/establish it's track record with me. (After 50K I have a certain level of trust in the SV)

I'm 70 and just purchased a 99 VFR. I have a very tolerant wife. A friend of mine is 75 and rides an older VFR750. So as the saying goes, you are as old as you feel. If you have reasonably good health then you are good to go.

I've been riding motorcycles since I was 16, and currently have a BMW sidecar rig. I'd sold my solo bike in the spring and I'd been looking for another bike for just regular riding, and was looking at a project bike ( I restored a few over the years ) and came upon a really good deal on a used VFR that needs nothing. I've owned a BMW 1100s in the past and the riding position on the VFR is a bit better than the BMW was, but very similar bikes in power & handling. The VFR spools up quicker.

Just turned 61 last month, riding since I was 7, had a MC license before a car license - in CA, you could have a permit at 15 1/2 and ride without an adult om a MC at the time...

Ride my VFR regularly, race dirt bikes off road and ride my Honda 650R dual sport a lot.

    Fun is FUN!
