I'm 41 but with an abused frame and oft' redlined engine. I've just bought a new (0 KM) 2008 VFR after plodding along for the past 20yrs+ on a dual purpose Suzuki. I've always liked the VFR's and finally got off my wallet to indulge myself midlife. My wife think's it's a sexy machine and I couldn't agree more. In my opinion this is bike that trancends the ages...a true classic in all regards. You can't be too old or too young for a classic, you just need the right mindset. Ride with pride!

47 and got rid of the wife. She always said I loved motorcycles more than her. In the end, I guess she was right on one thing after all! :)

Add me to the list of 50+ (51) and still riding. Many things annoy me about getting old such as having to wear glasses to read or do close up work. All of these annoyances are forgotten when I turn that key and hear the whirr of the fuel pump priming. When I press the button and the V4 kicks into life its all good.

Oh yeah the ex wife and the last ex GF said that I have a better relationship with my motorbikes than I did with them. Talk about stating the bleedin' obvious

I just turned 64...I've got two VFRs, a red 98 on the west coast and a 2001, red, in VT. I quit production roadracing (SV650) 4 years ago. Old? Maybe, but I'm riding until I can't hold the bike up....then I'm getting a lower bike.

    No retreat, no surrender.

I've got warts on my body that are older than most of you guys.
I'm 65 with a 5th gen that spends alot of time in the Smokey Mountains.
I didn't get my knee draggin until I was 47 and I still go through a set of knee sliders every season.
Being retired gives me the time and being old gives me the experience, I've been riding performance bikes since 1963.
I would replace my VFR in a heartbeat but with what? With it I can sport ride, sport tour, put my wife on the back go somewhere and look cool and mature all at the same time.

    BRILLIANT!
What do you say folks? I think this post is one of the top 5 that really capture the spirit of this Thread, and so, the VFR.

I'm with Tink - you guys are gettin wrinkly. Maybe we should call VFR riders - Very, Frickin, Recycled or Value For Retirement I'm 37, wife, two kids and 4 bikes (only 2 running). My VFR is not really a commuter as I live a couple of mins from work. So trips are usually planned and my wife although happy for me to ride is not interested in bikes. So the Mrs does pottery or gardening and I ride bikes. It is a balancing act. As for why a young one like myself rides a VFR. I suppose VFR = Valuable For Relaxation

down here in texas, its not how old you are, its whether you can still throw a leg over your horse or bike. i'm 5 mos short of 60 and still ride sport bikes. i sometimes can't decide whether to ride the vfr or the st1300. don't ride the harley much but when i sell it, i will get a hornet,or the fz1 . i would really like an 1125r buell

    Welcome!

A friend of mine sold his RC51 and got an FZ1. They are great street bikes and can still be taken to the track.

The Buel is 1125r is a nice bike too. Too bad the motor company bailed on Buel after all the work they put into it.

This is completely unrelated but as you said, down here in Texas, at least you are as old as you feel. There is a guy that routinely rides the horse he is breaking past my house. He has been breaking and training champion cutting horses all his life. He is 83. As for the bikes, I got a chance to get in a little seat time on a Honda 919 Hornet that was a trade in at the shop. That was a very fun bike indeed.
