The rest of the world has already adapted to their respective costs of fuel. In europe there's scooters and small displacement vehicles all over.

That's part of the reason I think H is going to be the ultimate solution, it's abundant and it'll appease the tree huggers to boot! Unless, of course they want to protest that water vapor is a greenhouse gas (which it is) and that utilizing it will result in global warming. However, if they admit water is a greenhouse gas, then the argument by current proponents of global warning would have to admit their claims up to that point are bogus (Something like 90 some odd percent of all the green house gases in the world is water vapor; humans in fact account for VERY LITTLE total greenhouse gases).

Whoops, sorry for the tangent.

Maybe its time for a rethink on what Oil is used for, ie Oil is not just used for Gas it is also used in the manufacture of clothing and many other things like road tar, plastic shopping bags, food colourings, perfume, plastic drinks containers etc, the list of materials made from oil is quite extensive.

Maybe development time needs to be spent making these products out of grown or mined materials, ie with a legislation change non THC hemp be enlisted as an easily grown versatile material to make clothes and many other products out of, surely pressure to have government fund the R&D expenses on oil use alternatives would be monies well spent.

usually the highest is Gorda which stays above $5 a gal at least for now. It's supposedly because there is no power there so they burn a diesel generator to the tune of 100+ gallons a day to run the store, etc... Never bought gas there myself as I can usually make it to big sur or down to ragged point if needs be...

Remoteness of a location has a lot to do with it as well. If a rig has to haul 5k-10k gallons of fuel just to one remote location it is gonna have a surcharge which they will pass on to us. Not to mention small remote locations usually buy/sell less gas so they have to charge more to sell it. In the San Diego desert, they usually are at least 1.00 - 1.50 more a gallon.

IMO, I would pay 10 bucks a gallon if I was in the middle of nowhere and really needed it to get somewhere.....or else you are hoofing it!

I think that everybody is gonna be seeing 5-6 bucks a gallon in the city very soon. Been riding the bike all week. Nice getting 40-45MPG instead of 19-20MPG in the (4 banger) truck.

Too bad we didn't have more options for diesel passenger cars in the US like Europe does. I wish I could have gotten my Tacoma in a diesel 4 cylinder. That Volkswagon Jetta diesel gets more than 40 MPG on the freeway. It can beat the Prius in some instances MPG tests.

With this low-sulfur diesel (and gas) on becoming mandatory in the near future in the US it means that diesel fuel will be a lot cleaner to burn, and have less particulate matter released into the air. Therefore, diesel cars will become more attractive to own.....I hope...
