I am sure there are many here who are very diligent with these things but I bet there are more who are not. Me/ I fall somewhere in the middle. I could do much better.

I honestly think that the way I ride my motorcycle is safer than riding a bicycle where I live. At least on a moto, I can choose to power away from a cage or just let them go. I don't ride in the city, only county roads for recreation only. A moto is not transportation for me. Only recreation. Drivers don't respect bicyclists (or motorcyclists) at all and some even have a warped need to harass us, sometimes to death. I do believe in that old proverb, "what goes around, comes around". I also believe in one friend who is a personal injury lawyer. He isn't an ambulance chaser but is there when / if I need him. Drivers just don't understand the liability they have. If I get hit, my life won't be the only one ruined.

So, yep, having perfect weather again tomorrow, I will be motoing around the mountains. :courage:

I was looking out the window at work today, the sun was shining the sky was blue, not a cloud to be seen, just a beautiful desert day. "What a beautiful day for a ride" I thought, then I remembered it's minus 11 celsius out there and my bike is about five thousand miles away anyway. No ride for me today :(

Got hit crossing the street in the crosswalk on my bicycle last night... in the pouring rain... there goes my riding plan for the upcoming weekend..
It it me, or does it seem like every time I stop at a red light and look around.. I will always find at least one person on their cell phone in the car?

We need people like you Jeff to keep a presence in Manitoba. Otherwise them Yanks from north Dakota might try to invade, colonize our Central province, rape our black Angus, and domesticate our mosquitos.

You're not wrong ... I'll be fine once the snow falls. At least then I can ride the snowmobile.

Sux Duckie...Rain great, but hope it doesn't last long for you! Imma get out tonight and this weekend. In search of fall foliage, but this record heat is really messing with the leaves. They aren't turning proper.

Here is an example of what most of the trees look like here. Half dead curled up leaves. Many have fallen off so half alive/half bare trees are common now too.

But way better than mudslides. Have you experienced that there before?
    Hope that doesn't happen.

Any Halloween rides there this weekend?

Some here and toy runs already.

Typically the Malibu area and other areas that are near the local mountains will suffer land slides. A few areas that were burnt from the wild fires recently would really be susceptible to them for sure. A few years ago there was a HUGE land slide that killed quite few people in La Conchita, it's up near Santa Barbara. A big part of the mountain side came down and covered part of the town.

No thanks! 55F is cold enough  Actually OCLandspeeder and I have ridden in much colder temps (~25F if I recall) but we can do without the wet weather though.

They say that Malibu is such a beautiful place to live but it comes at a high price, with the fires, land slides and the high tides during the storms, even the ocean front properties get beat up from mother nature. However, if you can afford the cost of living there, then I'm pretty sure you can afford the insurance too! Back when I worked for an Audio-Video integrator, many of our clients were in Malibu. Most of the home owners had multiple homes, one in the BU and the other in the city closer to their jobs. During the summer, they commuted from Malibu, winter they stayed in the city!

I had two clients that had ocean front property, one was unaffected by one of the bigger storms, the other, not so much. His shore level "play room" was flooded! My recollection was that the water line was about half way up the wall. :jaw: Are these considered first world problems?
