thinking about getting rid of my 500, it runs, but it runs rich and I'm tired of messing with it, other than that its in pretty good shape, whats a good price to let it go?

    to let it go? $500

Now, if you want some useful opinions, add some useful information. Mileage, known history / issues / upgrades, detailed hi-res pictures.

I fairly clean running unit can go for $3500. A mint version 5k- ish. A spent all my time and money and looks like crap custom version for $1500. Just depends on the details like Capt said.

Dammit Rogue he was just about to sell it to me for $500. Keep that kind of stuff to yourself!

But yea, Captain nailed it with "Mileage, known history / issues / upgrades, detailed hi-res pictures". The amount of effort somebody puts into their listing gives me a good indication about their ability to maintain a motorcycle and also the price I'm willing to pay for a bike. Three grainy photographs and two sentences, and I'm probably offering $1/cc.

for a useful opinion, its got 19696 miles '84 model, the previous owners supposedly rebuilt the carbs an the forks, they also put in led headlight, the issues are that it runs rich and right fork seal leaks from previous owner and short clutch handle, new oil filter and oil less than 500 miles, I've also recently tightened the chain. previously I cleaned and synced the carbs once myself that was after I made the mistake of letting it sit for a few weeks and it would not start and run. I have an F1 slip on not currently installed and extra exhaust parts. It starts and Runs fine just doesn't idle well cause of the rich issue, its in overall fair condition with a clean title IMG_0723.JPEG IMG_0724.JPEG IMG_0723.JPEG IMG_0724.JPEG IMG_0725.JPEG IMG_0726.JPEG IMG_0727.JPEG IMG_0728.JPEG IMG_0729.JPEG IMG_0730.JPEG IMG_0731.JPEG

    ~ $1200 to $1500

    cosmetics, corrosion, carbs, ???

"runs rich" is an uncommon problem on these and could mean something unexpected. Bikes can also sit for more than "a few weeks" without needing another carb clean, but I suspect it just needs some extra attention to details on another carb "rebuild". Who knows for sure, it is a pretty big "unknown" as it sits.

I wouldn't pay that, but I think there are people that would. The run-ability problem greatly affects the value for me and I would definitely need to hear it run.

New owner will have a fair amount of money to spend to get things sorted, but looks to be a decent starting point with good mileage and body work that appears to be fairly intact, save for the chin cowl.

I think the 85 on Iconic Motorbikes is grossly overpriced with many similar issues.

The 85 is not far from me and the seller originally had it on CL at some laughable prices.

The left muffler is rusting from the inside out at 10K miles and they are both spray painted flat black.

"The seller states this example is completely stock."

Huh, rear turn signals from 1999 and chrome-n-foam grips. ok.

My experience is if you are true to yourself and state the facts plus price it correctly, it will sell. Obviously this seller has illusions of grandeur …
