Rather than starting a new thread, I dug this one up. Anyway, I've narrowed it down to the Joe Rosket XL Manta or the Rapid Transit Recon 19. They are both almost identical in size and storage capacity. So my question is... Is it worth an extra 20 bucks for a map pocket? Joe Rocket XL Manta 14 x 10 x 7.5 $52.99 Rapid Transit Recon 19 15.8x 10.2x 7.1 $72.99 After extensive research I believe these are the only two bags in existance with over 18 liters or 1000 cubic inches of storage capacity and still have a low enough profile to get into a full tuck. Thoughts, options, and experience will be greatly appreciated and taken into careful consideration. Thank you.
map pockets I think the map pocket is one of the best things about a tank bag. You can even put your GPS in there if you like. If you're going to do any serious touring, I think you'll enjoy having the map pocket. Cheers! Craig
i have a map pocket in mine and i do use it, mostly for quick reference while im riding or if i stop to check route. some times i just put a waypoint list in or quick reference ph numbers an or adressses so that i dont have to stop and start fumbling throught the insides or into my pack rack storage. so yeah +1 for map pocket. of course a garmin or similar is another option.
Rapid Transsit Recon 19 vs. Joe Rocket XL Manta Thanks guys. I drive for a living and I'm fortunate to have a keen sense of direction and the ability to study a map for a few minutes and be able to route a several hundred mile trip/loop. On the other hand, a wise man once told me, "Its better to have something and not need it than to need it and not have it." So, unless there are any more suggestions, I'm going with the Rapid Transit Recon 19 with the map window. Thanks again.
