I own a RF1000 also(by far the best one I have tried in my 15 years of riding) after new paint on my bike my white helmet is getting reassigned to passenger duty so I have an excuse to by a new one. I have planed to buy another rf1000 but I am curious as to what benifit the x12 has to offer...

well, to be honest i don't recommended ever "passing down" a helmet. The helmet should be bought and fitted to the person wearing it. Just like you shouldn't let people borrow your helmet. It affects the fit, and could cause it to improperly fit you. The RF-1100 it the true replacement for the 1000. If you've really like your RF-1000, that's what i'd buy. we currently have RF-1000s on sale for 285 for solids and 331 for graphics. The X-12 is aimed at a more aggressive or track rider. Largely because of the increased air flow and aerodynamics of the helmet. The RF-1100 actually out flows the x-12 during 10-55MPH riding, as where the X-12 does best at speeds above 60MPH I picked it because of the emergency release cheek-pads, so that if i'm ever injured the paramedics can get the helmet off of my head with as little force as possible.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. I'd be gald to help!!'
