No argument about that! They are available online for $279 with free shipping already, at least here in the states......

No need to go through the hassle of getting the old weights out,I did this bought 2lb of lead shot from ebay (£8) and filled then helibars with it and sealed with bluetac, each bar is now 200 grams heavier than stock bars with weights.I put on these grips for (£7).I then sold the old bars with weights on ebay for £40. Just a thought, what about finding someone interested in manufacturing some bars for us. Individually it would be cost prohibitive, but for a run of say 10 we may beat heli's price and keep the shipping and currency Canadian. Probably still be a deal for American members too. Anyone who knows a good machine shop could go get a quote then pick the best one.

Does anyone know if the Helis are made from aluminum or steel. Something makes me think steel but I'm not positive.

Hmm... possibility, but we'd need a set for a template. I'm not sure what they're made of.

Jeff, on your list, how many gen5 vs 6 and how many canuck vs Americans. If I have time I will look into this on Monday and report back with price. If the price is right I'm sure more members will be interested.

Our machine shop dude here is "Tink" who if he is reading this and not spitting his favorite beverage all over his screen from laughing may be able to crunch a few numbers and come up with what is might cost in real pesos to fab up a set of bars. I would also guess the folks at Heli also have copyrights and perhaps even a patent in place for their products.

I was told they'd get back to my by the end of the day on Friday. I figured I'd give them until the end of today before pestering them - I'll call them tomorrow. The lady didn't sound impressed the last time I called to follow up with my email request. :)

LOL ... well, if someone 'fabricates' something on their own, doesn't mean it's illegal. If they profit from it though ...

Ok, I called HeliBars today ... their response:

"Because of the time of year and current production demand, we wouldn't offer any kind of a group buy at this time. We might consider something come November"

Well. Are there any pre-made alternatives out there? Or maybe there's a store that sells them that will play ball with us?

    Has anyone tried these? http://www.sportbiketrackgear.com/lsl-honda-vfr-800-vtec-02-09-handlebar-riser-kit/

Also these ... fully adjustable with the same kind of rise for less than half the cost (I think I'd weld these once I found a position though):

Apex Manufacturing Makes a nice set too:

I'm currently inquiring with retailers now ...

    GOOD NEWS!!

Apex Manufacturing and has responded - they're willing to work with us.

I'm just working on the details now. Can someone please confirm the form diameters below are correct?

    6th Gen - 43mm
    5th Gen - 41mm

    Another update here, folks ...

Apex will give us 10% and free shipping on a order for 10+ sets of bars (gen doesn't matter except for ordering the right clamp).

    3" Riser - $229 MSRP (-10% - $206.10 USD)
    4" Riser - $269 MSRP (-10% - $242.10 USD)

I'm away on a business trip to Ottawa. Can someone measure the stock rise on the 5th and 6th gen stock bars?

Also, there's a retailer that's willing to work with us on HeliBars - just waiting to see what they come back with.

I'm going to purchase helibars direct. My preference is for something I know, and would be covered by warranty if anything was to go wrong. Good luck to the rest of you.

The Apex units look nice and I don't think heli can beat those prices, but, they aren't welded construction.....an opinions .....TINK?
