Ghost 1 -- Hard to say, I only opened up the box for a few minutes until I taped it back up, and shipped it off to Jet-Hot coat. So the coating would kind of cover up any minor blemishes. I am no welding critic, but they looked fine to me.

Mellow -- they are the same diameter as the '98, but on the last version, Honda went to a smaller diameter version. So the Motads are a way for those of us with the 6th gen to go back.

gwolever -- not worth it? I think you kind of answered your own claim. If the 98 & 99 were a piece of cake to get, for $200, OK. But you admit you have spent a lot of time looking, then more time on the phone. How much is your time worth? Instead, with just a few clicks of the mouse, I solved the issue. More time to ride or spend with my son -- well worth it.

Hey Spike - could you do some photos and write about your installation experience when you get there? Would like to hear about the JetHot on the Stainless too.

    Thanks,
    MD

I saw some 99 headers on ebay last week that looked in really bad shape. Probably not even worth the 50 some odd bucks they were going for after 5 bids. Not sure what they ended up selling for, but they looked shot from the pics. Lots of corrosion and rust spots.

I think you're right Spike, it is probably better to just spend the money on a new set if you can.

I got a friend across the street that is a welder. He has a MIG welder in his garage and I think I might just see if he'll take out my cat.

Passing smog? In California there is NO smog test for motorcycles (yet).

Think I'll go into the garage and polish my '98 headers again...
