    Hell, I'm in at tree-fiddy

I've actually been in the middle of this situation. Not motorcycles nor Haas as mentioned above. But I spent time selling a customer on a large ticket item. Customer turns around and finds a "new/used" one on ebay. A dealer in another part of the country had one on floor plan that was two years old and selling at a reduced rate on ebay without warranty.

The manufacturer was not pleased and felt this was bad for the brand. To protect the brand image, they felt it was important to have service and warranty. The other dealers inability to sell the product became my problem. The manufacturer stepped in and forced the other dealer to split commission or be booted from the network. I was expected then paid for my efforts in being the one who sold the customer on the product but also expected to represent the brand (and that unit) as expected by the manufacturer.

Probably good that you weren't in the middle of any car of bike dealership deal or at first opportunity you'd have had a big foot in your ass and a doorknob bruise.

And the dealer here, if I read the original article isn't being bared from selling their stuff online, they just can't do it thru 3rd party websites. So Joe's Tulsa OK harley can still sell parts to someone in CA - if they sell it on their own website. They just can't be a Amazon seller or sell new stuff on EBay.
Better than a while back when Harley said it was going to try to block it's dealers from selling non-OEM parts/farkles. So like how we can go into a Honda shop and buy say Givi luggage if we wented to, Hardly was going to try to stop that at their dealers a while back.

I like to think that similar situations build character. Yeah right!
