Here's my old Honda-Davidson. I loved it in rides less than 50 miles. Now granted, there are better cruisers than a Shadow but I learned all I needed to from that expensive mistake.

I'm with Tink some. I use the Valk for local run country road shit, maybe 175 miles tops. But for any kind of trip, the VFR is it. Btw, I never have got along with V twins. For me the flat six on the Valk is the shit. Easy smooth cruising at 45 mph, and if you need to hustle, just whack the loud handle open and it moves, right now with big torque.

I rode my bosses VMAX. I think most folks would consider it a cruiser style bike.

I was a few weeks into healing a broken rib and had no trouble with the VFR. But the VMAX was a freight train that wouldn't steer. Slow speed turns it wanted to fall over on itself and high speed turns it just ran in a straight line. My VFR never felt so light in comparison. The strength it took to muscle that VMAX around made me wince in pain every time. The engine was hell of impressive though.

If I could say it in one word I would, but I can't so, I won't. Triumph Rocket 3, nuff sed. A standard is an improvement from sitting on your "arse bone" on a cruiser.

Rocket is dah shizzle but you gota step up and spend some scratch. V-Max is ok btw only with a back rest.

I picked up a 96 honda shadow spirit 1100. Travelcade seat, windshield, light bar, new fluids, recent fork seals, under 8k on odo for 2k.

Rode it 400 miles this weekend and couldn't have been more comfortable. Felt
Like I could ride for days and the miles were more enjoyable because I could really take in the sights.

On the Vfr I'm too forward for that. And it's not so exciting/pleasureable at cruising speeds.

Y'all are drinking some mighty fine kool aide saying a cruiser sucks from traveling. I met a bunch of guys and gals who ride their crusiers into the sunset for days on end.

It's all what you get used to. I'm reading a thread on advrider about a dad and son riding cross country on a Chinese scooter and a Chinese knock off ct70. You can travel on anything if you put away your preconceived notions.

If you like to ride really slowly, I guess that's your choice.
