Getting a feel for a Poconos ride.

I just got back from lunch...you should of seen some of the chicks in our cafe...one was practically naked! I was thinking about the 20th Steve. I am going to be a busy boy this weekend. I just hope the shim kit I bought is sufficient enough and that I don't need to goto the dealership for any odd ball shim sizes. Does anyone have any shims tucked away in their garage?

 

it is time for me to let my Honda flying Wing(s) spread and meet others in the VFR flock.

The Poconos is a PRIME tourist dstination in PA so PA treats the roadways extremely well including all the major arteries that will take you there.

I barely scraped the bottom end of the Poconos last year on a 150 mile impulse ride after I got the mirrors for the cosmetically challenged? VFR I purchased. Ride was BEAUTIFUL in October with a bruised VFR.

I was thinking last night that I was going to make this same post, when my wife reminded me i have to take my daughter to look at a college, so Saturday is shot for me.

 

I most definitely will be riding on saturday, but have to stay local... picking up the new puppy in the morning!

 

Which colleges ya going to see?

 

............nice bro. Your day will be spent as well. Of all the super cool stuff....pups rank right up there. No biggy.....I can always ride in the woods. Dial in the new suspension and stuff.

 

This weekend is just a quick trip to East Stroudsburg. Not on the top of her list, but still need to do our due diligence and check them all out. I can only think of 2 benefits to this college - she can commute (only about 30 miles from me in NJ) and the cost. Iits pretty cheap even for an out of state-er.

Next on the list is Penn State (main campus) in April. Couple others that we'll probably know about in the next week or so.

And since this thread was just jacked, what kind of puppy you getting?

 

........there is a third reason. It's just past the welcome center. Sunday afternnon lunches would be in order.

 

She's a 10wk old german shepherd/border collie mix (or that's what they think, anyway). Should be a good companion for our 3 year old Sheltie! Currently our sheltie just hangs out with our cats and chickens. Poor thing needs an actual DOG friend

Enjoy the college visit - at least you'll have a nice day. College tours are miserable in the rain.

 

I plan on doing a lot more riding this summer (as well getting out in my boat). This sounds like a good idea. Even if we can't do an all day event, a few hours out is better than nothing. (I also need to take a picture of the bass boat hooked up to the VFR for Toe Cutter to see).

Welp did my beginning of the season get the kinks out ride on Saturday... Hit up Ringwood and Sloatsburg. made the mistake of starting late. The reservoir was a mess of people and i watched 2 accident almost happen and a old lady in a grand marque tried to run me over. I also learned that they believe grating the hills on skyline drive is an acceptable way to provide permanent traction...fantastic... Ducked the people n headed to Sloats by seven lakes and that road that was closed that i took you guys on (pliskin and dino). They actually opened it up. Less homosexual europeans coming out of the woods but more cyclist now. intersting trade off as both groups wear skin tight pants.

I digress... when do we have another impromptu Pocono jaunt (all of this super advanced planning gives me anxiety)? i miss the welcome center already...


Another side note... if there are any mountain bikers i started up this season and live right next to Lewis Morris Park. Got lost for about and hour more than i wanted to but man what a friggin workout!

I spent yesterday cleaning my bike. Borrrriinng. But it needed it. Rides from earlier this spring had it covered in some of the left over salt.

Perhaps this Sat we can get something together. I'll see how my weekend shapes up this week.

Pliskin, going to be around this Friday waiting on some furniture deliveries. Pending on when they come perhaps we'll grab some lunch.

 

We should plan something for this Sunday. How about a Pocono run! Hey Steve has the sand been washed away? The weather seems more favorable for Sunday rather than Saturday....plus I need to install my VFRness on Saturday :wink:

 

Sunday is supposed to be the better day this weekend. I think I'd be game.

DenT - Friday might work for me if you're delivery goes OK. You got my number, so just keep me updated. If it works, great. If not, we still have all summer.

Geez just when I thought none of you phags rode anymore...........I thought I was the only one left. I was out last weekend and the arm is ok to street ride. Sunday looks like a nice day. I think Romans for lunch would be a good idea.
