Oh, THAT Modesto..... good ol' central valley ! I rode the western Sierra up to Auburn a bunch of years ago on my trusty '86 Honda Nighthawk.... quite a trip ! I'd love to do it again..... on something a bit bigger ? ? That excludes my '86 !

"THAT" Modesto! Yeah, famous for the things we are not so proud of.... Up 395, west over 120 Sonora pass, thru the Valley to the coast, and back home along the coast! Long weekend!!?? Auburn... Did you run Hwy. 49? Gold Country Highway. Lots of great riding thru here!

Yep ! Started the Sierras in Kernville, then north from there... great ride ! Met some real nice folks where we stopped for lunch... don't remember the name of the town, but it was all cowboys ! ! ! All they did was talk about LAND... hmmm, should I be surprised ?
Took my camera, but not a digital ! Born too soon, was I. Wound our way up to Miraposa, our base camp....did the gold country. Didn't do any passes... stayed west of the tall stuff... If I recall, 80 was closed and we had to double back.... I should consult Google Maps b4 describing route... no time. Hope it makes sense....

From an outside of the USA perspective if yours is a "G" model then its a 1st Generation VFR, the VFR's are designated as below:

    1st VFR750F G,H 86,87
    2nd VFR750F J,K 88,89
    3rd VFR750F L,M,N,P 90,91,92,93
    4th VFR750F R,S,T,V 94,95,96,97

    1st 1983 to 1985
    2nd 1996 to 1989
    3rd 1990 to 1993
    4th 1994 to 1997
    5th 1998 to 2001
    6th 2002 to ?

This is the American Honda breakdown. The 1983 to 85 models were VF not VFR but still first generation.

Yep this is a re-occuring subject of amusment which basically comes down to the 2nd Generation of USA only " Interceptor " equals 1st Generation " VFR " which goes away with the 3rd Generations of both.

Just saw your reply, good to know. I've had people tell me they see bikes like mine but I have yet to run into any and they don't seem to be into the forum.

Do you do any small group rides? We usually do five or six good distance rides during the nicer months. If your intrested I can add you to our email list or check out facebook group "ride turlock"

    Ride safe

Yeah, tx Yonan..... scothbeach@yahoo.com if it isn't posted elsewhere... I'm still having issues navigating this forum. Nice to see there'r a few of the '86s still out prowling the twisties... as far as actual touring is concerned, I've got the Cortech side and top bags, but lack the comfort, even with 1/2" risers... a three-hundred mile day is about all I can handle on it.... I do in-season rides with a group from another forum, yes. 320 miles has been the most done.... was glad to get home. The problem with riding to the good stuff here is that it's anywhere from 60 to 100 miles of slab before and after... I should think that would be enough for anything short of a 'Wing..... :strong:
