That looks and specs very close to the $250. Nuvi 550. I dont feel it's worth anything near $500.~$600. when you can buy a Nuvi 550 for less than half.

Am I missing something or does your Nuvi 550 lack bluetooth and a headphone/audio out jack? How do you you listen to it?

Ya, there not the same nor close, but one needs to use both to see and appreciate the differences. If your happy with the Nuvi then you will have saved some money.

THERE VERY CLOSE! The Zumo 220 has BT, the Nuvi does not(most likely it's not turned on, but in there). I'm not saying the Zumo's bad just way over priced. I dont want/need BT. The zumo 220 is just not worth the money when they offer a Waterproof nuvi 550 for 2/5 the cost.

why are you yelling at me? If you used slightly bigger font I may have automatically decided with you but still not loud enough. :flex:

It does have Bluetooth, for directions only though, you can't tell all about a unit by reading the specs on Garmin's website, it's a small guideline at best.

Oh My. Jayson. You really must switch from Espresso to Mint Julip tea. Are you going to be testy with me when I get in the way mounting mine?.....soon.....I am going to repay you for the blue tooth with quarters.

All installed thank you Jason. My knuckles are sore from your onstant rapping of them with your wrenches. Loaded it up with music that night so will let you know how it works when I ride to work Monday. Got the farings back on and no left over parts.

A couple of folks have mentioned the fuel gage...I kinda like it on tour.

On the road, I let it run most of the time so I can top of before a long run without any gas. Very handy out west. Two weeks ago it helped in West Texas when I topped off after only 50 miles or so on the tank............I needed it as there was no petrol for another 217 miles. I also found it very handy when I was running a couple of times with a Magna which has a two thimble tank. My bud was appreciative that I at least knew what was going on.

For those guys who want to shut the gage off on a Zumo 550.................set the Miles Per Tank to Zero.

The Nuvi 500/550 is a less expensive althernative but the it has limitations too. Number #1 in my mind is no voice directions to the helmet. With a 3.5mm jack it would work well except for off road.

Ah that's okay Scuba, just makes it more fun waiting. The anticipation is building...

Have you used other GPS's before? I find those that have can appreciate what the Zumo offers more so than those that get the Zumo for their first GPS.

Yep, the Zumo will take all the topo maps. Most "basemaps" are not routable, you will need the real topo map. It even handles tracks which is super convenient when roads are lacking. Getting all that to work isn't as smooth as it could be but at least it's doable. With every firmware update it just keeps getting better and better.

    +1

#2 on my mind and equally important as #1 IMO is "autorecalculate" or specifically the ability to turn it off on the Zumo, worth it's weight in gold. The Zumo also will not recalculate upon import which is also a bonus.

I have a fuel gauge but I think I'll turn my fuel on just to play, sounds cool. Great advice for the 550 guys, nice trick. :thumb:

The Zumos have Topo capablity. I get my high res from gpsfiledepot.com. These are not routable. However I also have the 24K Garmin Topo which are routable and they have a POI database. These are handy sometimes for off road but are not a panacea.

I agree 100% on that...huge. Especially off road...........let me tell you.

Here is what it looks like on road...say you want to explore slightly off route and know what you are doing. Kind of like telling your woman to shut up but still having an good idea of where you are.
