looks like your fuel line is off... that would be the big nipple.... other looks like a carb vent

Ah right. Thanks. I have the fuel pipe connected to the T piece. The pipe below the t-piece is the one I'm struggling with. It does come from the carbs. Could it just end there and not connect to anything if its just a vent?

"Cylinder 3 is not starting. Its sparking well but the downpipe is cold".

Have you checked to see if there are any vacuum leaks? Especially around the carb boots on #3 cylinder.
The hose you're wondering about is a vent for the float bowls. It fits into the ring to hold it steady, just to the right of said hose in your picture

If bike's been in storage, carbs could clog up.

That carb float bowl vent lines must remain open and connected to nothing.

Try revving up to something over 5000 and see if the cold cylinder fires up .

Right. I now have a more serious problem I think. Went out to try start the bike tonight and when its turning over alot of fuel is coming out of the vent pipe as described in the previous posts. When I say a lot I mean as much as what is going in I think haha. I think now is the time to remove the carbs and give them a good overhaul. Is this the best course of action for my issues? Can anyone shed some light on what is causing this?

    Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Get that line routing figured out first.

So, ive had another go at figuring the problems out with my bike. I now have an over-fuelling problem. I seem to be getting a lot of fuel coming into the exhaust pipes. To the point where it floods and wont start.
I decided to remove the fuel pump out of the system and rry that. The bike fired up and ran better with no fuel coming out of the vent and none going into the exhaust. Could I have a defective pump causing the over-fuelling?

Well, I bit the bullet and decided to clean the carbs out. So far I've found 2 slow jets blocked and 1 valve needle (the one with the rubber tip) stuck. This is probably why I've had the problems. Cant wait to get it all back together and have another go haha.

    Hi
The open end is a vent pipe, it goes to atmosphere.
The "nipple"as someone said is the cylinder head vent that goes to the airbox.
