nice job, I am still a believer in the duck bill rear fender, thats just me and its all subjective as we know.

The fender was like that. I cleaned up the hack job. I bought another one for it that was cut, but at a reasonable length, like a normal fender. Decided to keep it as a back up for a future bike. They are hard to find not totally hacked up.

I can't stand the full length fender tho. Rediculous and cartoonish. Even my ST1100 fender is shorter.

Not sure what I'm going to ask for it yet. This is what I have into it:

    Bike: 400
    RR wheel: 200
Front wheel, discs and new Dunlop (date code 2020): Free. I got a full refund from the seller when I contacted him about some damage and a slightly bent disc that wasn't described in the listing. He didn't want it back. I straightened the disc.
    Shock: 100
    Steering head bearings: 50
Slip on: Free. Came on a 1986 VFR I bought. Well, the adapter piece was 15.
    Tank: 150
Mirrors: Free. Came off the 92, which I have perfect ones for from my 95 that has 01 mirrors on it.

Here's what I got off of it:

8 spoke rear wheel (+ stock front wheel)
    Stainless front brake lines
    RT fork springs
    Fox Twin Clicker
    VERY nice original fuel tank

Next up is to polish the bodywork, windshield and lenses a little. Not sure if the fuel gage is working as I had a tiny amount of fuel in it because I wasn't sure if the petcock was going to leak or not. I had it soaking in non-ethanol for a few months. Luckily the outer garage didn't smell like fuel this morning.

Thank you! Perfectly illustrates my point. They almost scrape a speed bump you just rolled over.

Just missing this bolted to the bottom with red reflector license plate bolts:

I like SAM, btw, it might be difficult to read but the black bike has a plaque that says, "My other bike is your sister" in old English of course. Guess that is why Baskin Robbins gots 32 flavours Broham.

I like Sam too, always have. I'm definitely from the Looney Tunes Sat morning cartoon generation. Actually have that mud flap that came on a trade-in at the shop.

A whimsical plaque or Yosemite Sam himself doesn't change the fact that's a ridiculously long fender on a "sport bike". Any bike. Did you work for the US DOT at the time?

No, I have govt clearance though from a past job. Keeps the mug and stuff off my back, when I bought my 91 from the original owner in 95, he mentioned not cutting the rear fender off, I did'nt pay much attention to it. My appreciation for it over the years grew. ex euro fender.jpg I got one for my EX500, I have to dig a picture out somewhere.

If I do cut a fender, I get another one to cut and put the original away. Same thing with most parts I mod.

I have a lot of boxes of parts.

1st test ride is a success.

I purposely didn't put new plugs in until I blew the shit out and rode it a bit after sitting for so long. It needs plugs, but it ran good and everything works. Clutch didn't slip either, so bonus.

    98 VFR rear wheel.
    Steering head bearings.
    Oil & Filter.
    Air Filter.
Carbs properly cleaned with new float bowl orings.
    Coolant flush.
Brakes front and rear disassembled, cleaned, Pistons polished, reassembled with Red Rubber and silicone grease.
    Adjustable preload fork caps.
New rear EBC brake pads, FR 50%.
Chain and sprockets were low mile, cleaned the chain.
    Custom TB slip on.
    Tank is spotless inside.
Original key operates all 3 locks.
    PAIR removed.

    Corbin seat.
Bodywork has stories to tell, but it is completely solid and mounted securely using OEM hardware.

Meh. Kinda. Good enough. The next level of bodywork would simply not pay for itself. And then look odd on a bike that still has a bunch of corrosion areas. I think this is where two lines intersect on a graph as far as work and value. It is mechanically solid and looks ok.

for the time money and effort it looks good. I have seen far worse bikes. My $500 bike won't hold a candle to that. Another learning experience and ready to bring you some cash. :)

The exhaust is Magnesium, thats mostly why I kept it bare. But i will prob give a buff. Also, this bike is for sale. That won't keep it from selling, the new owner can do whatever they want. I didn't like the muffler at all, that's why I kept the D&D I made first.

There's plenty of little shit that bugs me, but I gotta stop somewhere. I got way too much other shit to do.
