6th gear is a total over drive gear, you have to be highway bound or hell bound and going 80mph or more. Once you hit 6th, your on your way up to 100+. If I were you, I would be using 4th and 5th gear. If you have a consistent problem with hitting neutral between 1st and 2nd you could check on the position of your gear shifter and examine your boots, (maybe they are shite/?) You could always invest in a Factory Pro shift kit, (it is basically a new detent arm and stiffer spring - they may have a new shift star now.) :mech: :vtr2: :drinkers:

well I don't think the oil is moving, ive put about 350 miles on the bike since the oil change and the oil mark looks dead solid to what I put it at when I changed it..

Well today i took the time to mod the airbox by taking the snorkel and vacuum line to the flapper off, then i unplug the electrical to the pair valve.. as far as i understand, the pair valve is just needed to be unplugged correct?

I would stuff the hoses with marbles as well. Make sure you plug that vacuum line that you unplugged, both on the flapper valve (to prevent shit from getting in it if you want to hook it back up in the future) and the hose you removed from it (it can cause weird shit if you don't plug it).

Personally, I just removed that whole 5lbs of uselessness, installed plates, and stuffed the assembly in into a box on the shelf in case I need it in the future.

I noticed that my oil levis seemed higher than I expected when I checked it the other day with only a couple of hundred KM since it was changed. I also noticed that it was higher than it should have been when I changed it. I was going to vacuum some out before riding it next and keep a better eye on it. Is a leaking injector the only way excess fuel can get in there as it seems to be running fine?

On old Honda's like yours, I'd check the Fuel Pressure Regulator, if you are having fueling problems.

The old Honda probably stinks more than your newish Kawie, because the Kaw had catalic converter. If you have a full system, there's probably no cat. I've gotten to really like cats on bikes.

Also on old bikes, I buy straight 91 octane, then add Lucas Oil Fuel Injector Cleaner, and run the bike as hard and long as you can.

Use 87 octane in your VFR if you're not already. They don't like premium gas as far as run-ability goes. You're lugging the engine at 60mph in 6th gear unless you're going downhill.

I only run premium 91. Bike runs cooler, I get better mileage, and more power.

    It runs smoother.

So how does the gas with ethanol added play here? Premium or regular?

The FI cleaners come in amounts that according to the directions that are added to a full tank of gas in a car. So how much in a full bike tank? Any harm in running the stuff in a bike with carbs?

The label on the bottle will say for sure, but I think the little bottle of Lucas is for 20 gallons. I use about a quarter bottle to every 5 gallons or so. Put the FI Cleaner in, then the gas. It mixes itself.

Yes, I aware that the engine is set up for 87. But it does really well on the 91. The Interceptor gets good fuel mileage with my "Super Gas Mix". I know that for sure, because the numbers prove it. An the senses say that the bike seems happy, also.

My other favorite fuel is Marathon 89. My big ol Ram Hemi Crew 4X4 gets its best fuel economy with Marathon 93. The truck got 18.18 mpg, hand calculated, mostly highway, with some effort, it's last tank. Fuel makes a noticable difference.
