Where's the Jennie?? Where's Bubba Gump Co.?
Well Forrest must have been out shrimpin'... Ok off to Dauphin Island and another ferry ride across Mobile Bay! Yeah from my son, me I'm not a sailor if you know what I mean... get seasick real easy and it's a 45 minute ride and it's very windy today... Uh oh...
Sorry guys I've been really busy... I'll be posting more tomorrow.
Hopefully when old enough I'll be able to do this with one of my son's if not both. Nice pics, glad you fixed your girl. Have safe blessed travels.
Fort Gaines is cool!
Went to the ferry and they were closed... Yeah!! For me, not for my son G. Remember we are desert people and never get to ride on ferries. Was pretty windy though, kept blowing us all over the road.
OK, now we go around Mobile Bay. Long way around but no other options. Here's the Alabama!
Hungry, now off to the worst Burger King for service and wifi in the whole country! In Mobile... They had like 3 people working that completely hated their job and life... Sucked!
Now off to Pensacola FL and to stay with my cousin that I haven't seen in 40 years. I'm excited because the water is finally starting to turn from crap brown to greenish blue!! First stop Gulf Shores Alabama. G wanted to hang out

Staying with my cousin Barbara in Pensacola for a couple of days to visit and to see something I've been looking forward to for quite awhile. the National Naval Air Museum! I could do a complete separate write up on this so only a few photos for now. First time to clean up and feast on some local chinese take out. She runs a small dog grooming biz and we invaded her place with all our gear. Thank you for putting up with us cousin Barbara!!
G made a new friend. We called him Crackhead because he was so hyper and was always on his hind legs dancing and begging for more. Super cool doggie!!

We were so tired from our trip so far that we both fell asleep here by the Bob Hope exhibit... Not because the place was boring, let's blame it on my old age...
OK after a couple of days of R&R it's time to get back on the road. Off to Panama City by way of US 98. Now this is beautiful Gulf Coast! I could live here!!!
Well time to find a place to camp. Can't sleep on the beach so let's find something inland. Apalachicola forest and the Pine Creek Landing campground.
Unfortunately G's camp pad has sprung a leak. He found over 20 holes, the seams were splitting apart! Well at least there's some grass...
When I toured for five weeks back in 2012 I spent one night sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground. First thing in the morning it was off to REM for a mattress. I'm too old for that crap.
Pic of mattress!
Ahhh. I didn't take pictures of my air mattress. Never thought of it. Next time. Promise!
I said I went to REM. That is a band. I went to REI. Tried to find the mattress on their site but looks like it is out of production. It was a very narrow one about 3/4 the width of a single. Look close and you can see it in here. That is a single person tent pitched at Yosemite in 2012. No pump. Had to blow it up each time but it was so small that this was easily done in less that 5 minutes. Not much more than Long's blow up doll if that much.
Blow up doll!!!:courage:
He has since bought a Klymit Static V pad. I have the Klymit Static V Luxe (I'm old and need the 3" thick pad) and we use a ThermaRest NeoAir battery powered inflator. No more sleeping on the hard ground for G!
Anyone who travels can appreciate a nice rest stop with clean bathrooms. Not like at truck stops with a trucker tapping your foot under the partition wanting to get "friendly"!:eek-new::courage: this is just outside of Tampa
