Fast Flashing turn signal issue - 2007 Vfr800

Good evening all.

My front left turn signal / running light has stopped working, causing the dash indicator and rear signal to flash faster than normal. Happened last week for a day, resolved itself, now happening again.
I checked the bulb, it looked ok, also checked the fuse box, and all was in order. Tomorrow I may swap bulbs to rule that out, but is there anything else I could be looking for that would cause this issue?

My apologies if this has been covered before on another thread, but my search did not turn up results.
Any helpful input is appreciated, thank you kindly.

 

If the problem isn't a bad bulb, start checking grounds and bulb sockets/wires.

 

Update: The issue runs deeper than a bulb. There is something shorting out and draining the battery now... (bulb was fine, btw)
