My last dynotune on my 2004 came in at 100 hp. More important, though, is the smooth power delivery all the way through the VTEC engagement point. Ahh . . .

Candy pretty much said it all. Don't worry about peak numbers, more hp and torque spread over a wider range is where its at. Get a good dyno tuner and you will be happy. I would also bet you lost a tiny bit with the K&N.

On my track bike (06 cbr 1000) my peak hp was 156, but I had a very good tuner and have gobs of power from down low through out to red line. I eat up guys with substantially more "peak hp". Its hard to keep a bike screaming in between 10k and 12 k to use that peak number. High mid range to red line is much easier for mortals. And you don't land on your head as much. Want the cheapest way to make a bike accelerate faster? Simply gear it.

A power commander is a great tool for smoothing out the low end and VTEC transition. But yeah, don't expect it to add any peak horsepower.

You are right though. There is a lot of weight to drop off the bike and that will make the bike perform better.

My curb weight is 460 pounds with 1 gallon in the tank. My best 1/4/mile so far is 10.82 at 127.4. I'm sure a good deal is from weight reduction.

Wow Candy, that is a great weight reduction and 1/4 mile time.

I bet Candyman rides almost as well as SOW to go that fast in the quarter.

Candy man on the spot with solid info learned from trial and error.

    But I still say he's a dick. :)

Just an aside. Went for a couple of spirited rides (WOT and VTEC as much as possible) and a couple of more sedate rides. Spirited rides cost me 22 mpg, sedate 34 mpg. It have a "leaner" switch installed when I added the PCV. Now lets see what happens to my mileage under similar riding styles. that 22 mpg worries me with some of the rides I take. Going to have to map my fuel stops!

Just chiming in as a newb, but have had a lot of dyno experience with my G8. All said above about different dynos, days are proven facts. Numbers and the real world are two different things. It's a tuning tool, plain and simple. Hopefully next time get some baseline pulls first.

Woah, those are modern muscle car mpg numbers lol. I wonder if they mapped your bike on the rich side. Did you get an AFR reading print out?

Tuning to a specific AFR isn't exactly a great idea.

Yeah, I agree, Tuning the light throttle cells to about 14:1 and the heavier throttle cells to 13.2:1 would be more optimal, but most the time tuning to 13.2:1 across the board is the norm. My software has the ability to adjust the target +/- 0.2:1 in real time while riding, but it is never been something that I was really concerned with. If I was to do a long distance road trip I would probably try bumping it to 13.4:1 while on the highway. I was originally talking to my tuner about setting different AFR targets in the actual mapping and it didn't seem like anything he wanted to mess with. After spending a few months dialing in the Rapid bike racing kit, and finally getting it perfect, I have been in the "if its not broke, don't mess with it mind set" for a while.

It's amazing what tuning can do to a bike. But I've also been told that a freeer exhaust by completely changing the pipes (not just the can) is very important. I don't plan on doing anything to my sport bike (S1000RR) anytime soon as it puts out 180hp at the rear wheel with a very steep and consistent torque curve, stock, on my friend's dyno at the shop. I think the best "gearing" is the nut between the ears. :)

Can you switch maps on the fly? That would be ideal.

Here's my dyno results with the AF switch set to "non lean" conditions. Don't have another read out with it set to "lean" condition.
It looks like my AF is about average no?

Looks like They botched the VTEC transition pretty bad.
