@twisted, I'm with pilotct on this. I've run the Roadsmarts, they were decent. But I much prefer the Q3s even if they may not last very long. And if you're riding very hard in tight curvy stuff (I'm not referring to women) then spend the $$ for good grip ... just an opinion.

I've had so many punctured tires that I'm seriously thinking about doing the Q3s or Pirelli Diablos next time I change my tires - I've never gotten more than 3000 miles out of a set before puncture anyway, so I figure why not! Problem is if I decide to haul off and go on a serious ride I'd have to change tires...

Thanks for the opinions. All valuable to me.

In derailing my own thread, yesterday I met and had a long conversation with a captain with my local sheriff's dept. and he is over traffic control. One thing he said was that, in my county they are in more places than I knew. He also said that he came here from North Carolina and they have no shortage of HWY PD at all. Not that I didn't know that. Of course, I only ride the speed limit so no worries and everyone here does as well.... ; )

So, back to the tire I love to hate, the OEM's on my '14. Last three rides, I tried to just enjoy the rides while finishing off the rear, and damned if it won't wear out!! I heard what someone else said about ditching them and that isn't off the table. Part of what I was doing is seeing how much of a beating the rear would take and it's surprising me because it's had some serious torque put down on it. I'll quit bitching about tires soon. ; )

One thing that I do if I feel my tire still has a decent amount of tread on it, I offer it to others who may be in need of a tire but not have the funds for a new set. I've donated my tire take offs to a few local riders who are "starving students" and ride to school. Since I have a tire changer, I'll even change the tire for them. All I ask for in return at a minimum, is the disposal fee ($2) and any donation they want to contribute. Usually it's $10-$20 or a 6 pack of IPA.

Regarding the Roadsmart II's- I'm on my third set or RS II rear and Q3 front, this is a very consistent-wearing, predictable combination that gets me up to 6500 mi in hard twisty canyon riding. The front and rear wear at about the same rate (usually the front is done and the rear has maybe 10% left). No issues.
