A thousand thanks too everyone. Your posts are most kind, and have provided some needed relief. I guess I don't feel so much responsible as I do regretful. The forum has indeed been a terrific outlet and just getting it off of my chest has been invaluable. I would encourage anyone to use their fellow riders should something seriously effect you in the future, especially if motorcycles are involved.

Anyway, Thanks again and I'll be wishing for good to happen to all of you!

    Well said, 300shooter.

I know you've heard it already Havcar, but don't beat yourself up.

Thanks for posting this story, albeit a tragic one. While I do ride with ATGATT, I have gained some valuable knowledge from your story, and thank you for it.

I want to chime in and echo what most everyone said. The above comment is especially insightful. Thanks for the post Havcar...and thanks for having a heart. You and Cebu have had a similar and sad experience lately. One can only try to live one's life the best way possible. Use this experience to help others in the future. Perhaps you already saved a few folks without knowing it. Don't be hard on yourself.

(And nice occupation! I'd love to share one of those Padron '64's with you...a nice cigar that is!)

Well I missed your post on the 9th and I just found it on the 13th. So I know some time has passed but I still feel the need to say don't beat yourself up. Since your customer is a "regular", I know you will be reminded of this every week for years to come probably. It should be stated that it is every motorcycle owners/loaners responsibility to know the risks and the proper gearing for this activity. If you can't afford the helmet, you can not afford the bike...period. Thanks for the thoughtful and insightful post that will keep me wondering what I should do next time too.... Take care brother and God Bless You!

Don't beat yourself up over it chances are he would have told you mind your own business then when he crashed regardless who knows if you'd then feel some sort of blame.

Remember years ago leaving a bar late at night seeing a guy outside punch his girlfriend to the ground he was then about to start kicking her, after first walking across the road I started yelling at him to stop, he stopped looked looked at me with confusion then his girlfriend getting up instead of being thankfull started yelling at me to shut up, F off and mind my own business then he started crossing the road to attack me, luckily being sober with the roads width head start I won the fight by 100yards, but unfortunately it now makes me think twice intervening in business not mine without some kind of backup.

Remember the two I mentioned in my only post in this thread?

One dead, the other critical: 1 motorcyclist killed, another injured in Maidencreek Township crash

Only so much you can do. Looks like they were wearing their helmets based on the photo but I can almost guarantee they were moving pretty quick. I've been on this road countless times in my life. Only way this happens is due to high rate of speed of lack of recognition by the riders.

21 year old, new daddy on a bike is a recipe for disaster!

Hey Man don't beat yourself up. There is not reason for you to beleive that a drunk person would listen to you anyway. I would suggest you tell the bar owner he may want to be more careful about serving individuals who are already drunk and driving a car or motorcycle. I hear ya but saving the world does not rest on one person's shoulder. I am sure you are not the only one who saw him and it is possible someone did try to stop him from leaving the bar on his motorcycle. Sad to say but maybe he will serve as an example to others like him and his friends who did not take his keys after they saw he was drunk. You did nothing wrong.

in the past, I've tried to stop the drunk drivers, but wouldn't listen. No matter what was said he still got on and rode. Ended up in a guard rail, and I don't feel bad at all about it. You shouldn't either.
