Ok so him her to formally eat a large bowl of crow ,humble pie or what have you. I took the new vfr out for a test ride and because of a time mess up got to ride with just the demo days leader. First ride of day cbr 600rr nice but not for me as a street ride ,to hard on the hands .Then it was ST1300 time nice sport tourer little to soft for me but ate potholes like nothing and the adjustable wind screen was nice in the rain that i had at that time . The vfr is light once underway and turns in easily. At the end of the fist few kms stopped and chatted to leader of ride and told him what i owned and that the roads we were on were my playground. He then said we could pick it up a bit and proceeded down a windy road at a brisk pace with me sitting just off the rear of his"cbf1000".The pace kept getting quicker the farther down the road we got, turning right onto a hyw.using the merge lane I rolled on the throttle while leaned over and proceeded to spin the rear loose and drift it into the slow lane followed by a quick shift and a glace at the speedo to see 174 kms as we moved into the passing lane . A short ride down divided 4 lanes and then to a left off hyw. He glances at me as he wacks the throttle and skips the front of the cbf down the street ,over the crest and to a light and right turn.hard on the gas and the rear stepps out again as i chase down the cbf.Rolling up to the light thats red and he looks at me and lights back and forth ,light changes and we are both off ,i shift into second hard and start drifting the back again and hold on till it starts to grab and pick up the front wheel shift to 3rd and back off as leader goes by and signals to pull back into dealership. we park the bikes shake hands and i thank him for the great ride telling him that i hope to see him again at the next demo ride in 3 days 100kms from where we are. I still think its a little homely to look at but its all smiles from the seat I have ridden every gen of vfr and dint want anything newer than my 86 till now .The new vfr1200 is so on my wish list but not in the budget so please would someone out there please buy one with regular trans and optional bags gently ride and care for it and call me in 5 years when i can afford to buy it .
