do you wave at other riders as you ride by them?

I wave until my arm gets tired then I nod.

When I started riding, I didn't know about the wave... I just figured people thought I was awesome or something. I was kinda perplexed by it. A few minutes later a rider a hundred yards or so ahead of me waved at another oncoming rider and it kinda came to me, "Oh... they do this wave thing to everyone they see on a bike." I find that every group of enthusiasts has their own things, and there are worse things to have than waving hi. That's why I wave at anyone on two or three wheels.

When I got out for my first ride of the season a couple weeks ago I passed a guy on a, judging by the colors, KTM daul sport. He was swinging his arm like that kid in the back of the third grade class that hadn't know the answer to question on the blackboard for months.

I wave unless conditions restrict it, then I'll just nod. Usually just an outstreched arm. None of the OOOHHHH OOOHHH I know the answer teacher, pick me waving though.

I have to admit though there have been a few times I didn't notice the other rider untill they were just about past me (opposite side of the road) and they were waving...I kinda felt like a d!ck not waving back. Oh well, maybe I'll catch 'em next time...

I like to flash the metal sign. It let's people know I rock...or that I wore some f'd up clothes in the 80's.

I'll always return a wave/thumb/nod/finger. But what's the deal with BMW guys. Those dudes never wave. And I'm still undecided about waving at Ducati guys. They can be a self-righteous bunch.

And the HD guys didn't buy their bikes to look like nice people so maybe that's the deal with them. Doesn't everybody like malcontent lawyers and accountants anyways?

But you always meet the nicest people on a Honda. I should say I do get a lot more universal waves on my CB750. Even had homeless people comment on what a nice Bonneville it is. I waved and said thanks.

So I am not to only one who gets this feeling of guilt. One time I went by someone on the other side of the freeway...50 meters across, and he was waving so wildly that I thought he was going to crash. That in itself lightened my day. If I have the energy to raise one finger, I can raise two.

    I wave like it's a parade.
It's an affirmation of lifestyle thing.
Good idea with the Satan Fingers, I should do that more often, but then it would have to be upright, and I usually like to make a low claw-like wave, like scooping up a snowball (someone gave me the squid/iicon gauntlets, and I love them, so I've got to act it out, right?).

Also: for the past 16 months I've been waving from a BMW K-75. The only thing it has over the VFR is that the VFR is not humble in any way except for luggage capacity, and I'll miss the teensy modicum of humbleness which that bike provided.

The Beemer is on the market BTW, it does everything a moto should do.
The VFR does more is all.
