    Randy,

Be nice to Cyborg. He is influenced by seeing too many Hopalong Cassidy movies. Charlie Manson and Billy Graham and nothin in between..

A friend does a job just as you discribe. Nails the bad cops. At last count there were 187 +/- items on the caseload.

Yes you did mention this one before. Matter of fact, I think this was discussed at fair length in another thread. And I think I replied to that thread as I too had this problem and ran into the same problem with the City Engineering Department with the same response. After I suggested to them their position was irresponsible and that I would be advising the local police of their refusal to fix a problem, suddenly that light sensor began working. Good for you for disputing the ticket and good for you that you won. That is what the courts are for and this example further cements my position that any benefit of the doubt in court must go towards the accused. And in the situation you described, most definitely should have. And had the cop "known" that you had waited the three cycles, and if you say you did, then I am satisfied you did, he should have used his discretion and commons sense.

It just pisses me off when people make assumptions that all cops are tainted or bad. And the likelihood of anyone running into a "nice" cop is not great. Usually those dealing with a cop are a victim of crime, or have done something wrong that attracted the police attention in the first place. I can't remember how many times I pulled people over for stopping at stop signs, driving sober, sticking to the speed limit and not breaking into houses. Wait. I don't think I ever have. Well shit, I guess I was a failure after all.:Cry:

What !!!! really! come on you are way behind your quota.. Every person I ever charged with a crime, gave a ticket to was me just being a douche bag..

my biggest complaint about the public filming LEO... is it gets edited down by the press to get the biggest "shock " value... was Rodney king beaten without provocation? probably.. was it excessive yes.... the video showed it.

for every "bad cop video " that has come up what about the thousands of "good cop videos" ? those aren't good for anything no shock value ...

a bad apple gets videotaped and then all officers are bad apples...Same thing as motorcycle enthusiasts, one guy on a crotch rocket drives 150 mph with loud exhaust, and his hair on fire scaring the shit outa people ...suddenly we are all "that guy"....

Let the public record the cops... If a person needs a beat down , well then they get a beat down. and when someone says stop video taping well, you should stop.

    thanks for starting this.

i hate cops (except Randy) cuz they can do anything, lie on a police report to coverup an unconstitual search with impunity, costing their victim hundreds or thousands of $$$ and court hassles.

I got stopped (on the VFR) for a simple traffic ticket last November and got hit with pepperspray and went to the hospital with serious contusions on my arm ( three weeks in a cast and no riding)after the asshole cop threw me on the ground........for NO reason !!!!!

Cops can get away with murder and almost always do.

Someday i'll do my riding armed and blow the f'ing head off any cop who thinks he can violate my constitutional rights !! Sorry, Bunky, you tried to mess with the wrong man, and i was in a bad mood to begin with.

Don't get me started on that scumbag Joe Arpiao and his corrupt deputies; a life-term in jail might be worth it to put a round through that stupid, racist, idiot pig's head.

Long story short: in my case, the black cop ( known by me to be a member of a notorious local drug-dealing black motorcycle gang) got pissed off when, after waiting for 40 minutes for him to write 3 minor-offense traffic tickets, i made a few sarcastic remarks.......followed by 2 cans of pepperspray to the face and eyes and being thrown to the pavement.

I can't say personally that I've allways had good experiences with LEO's or allways been treated fairly, but I can tell you that sometimes (the last time in particular) I was treated more than fairly. Squirrel, there was NO justification for what happened to you, unless you actually swung at him. However, mouthing off to a known corrupt piece of shit LEO may not have been the best of ideas.

Stereotypes suck and screw those of us who aren't being assholes but if you don't assume you're going to be treated like an asshole and then use that as justification to act like one, the LEO usually won't see you as one.

The real point of this thread is that the LEO pressing charges got caught with his pants down but can't take his medicine like a big boy so he had to be a little bitch and try to fuck the upstanding citizen that caught his ass.

You either had some history with this particular officer you're not telling us about, are a veritable master of sarcasm guaranteed to bring violence just with your searing wit alone, or

........you dropped the N bomb on him.

Ok maybe not, maybe he just got tired of hearing you and you started advancing on him a bit and he didnt care for that.

Regardless, we could fill the board up with good cop bad cop stories.

Having some personal experience in my family and extended family with law enforcement personnel, ranging from correctional types clear up to fed attorneys, and in various parts of the country, IMO its fair to say they are people doing a shitty job for the most part, and no one is immune to acting like a prick now and then.

Its probably a bad idea to try and shoot one though

I can be a prick if i really want to. Someone told the judge I was a prick. If he said that under oath, then it must be true. I have untold hidden talents.

Squirrel, maybe you should of had a full face lid on then watch him try to pepper you. Was there a dash cam involved? Or did that come up missing? Anyway, yes, there have been times I've been pulled over, deserved to be pulled over, but have never given any additional, or any incriminating evidence, to the cop. Best point of practice, KEEP YOUR PIE HOLE SHUT!

LEO's should have some pretty thick skin. Randy, and any other LEO's past or present, how many times have you been sitting at an intersection, look over, get the bird, someone flicking boogers at your car, or the like. You have to be able to take the abuse to a limit. Heck, I'm in IT and I take it sometimes as well. I brush it off, on to the next issue. Just because someone is screaming in your face, you have two options: walk away, or make the situation worse. If it is the LEO that is making it worse, ask HIM to call for a second officer, or have the shift commander come. And sit there quietly. Keep insisting. If he doesn't, tell him that you are getting out your phone and calling the PD to send another officer, as you are pulled over for (reason) and the current officer that is there is acting unprofessional, and that you would like to speak or have the shift commander come to this spot. I know they won't like it, but it does get reason back into them, maybe to calm down. As long as you have not provoked it. Most LEOs are the Type "A" personality, and will not ever back down, never to admit they are wrong, apologize, whatever. Just keep stating what you are doing and why. It is your right as a person to be treated with respect AS LONG AS YOU SHOW IT IN RETURN!

I agree with most of your post Keager. Except that most LEO's refuse to admit they are wrong. I have often when either proven or a good argument, in the true meaning of the word, is put forth. That's how one learns tolerance.

In the past, the VAST majority of the people I ran into, although did not really appreciate getting a ticket if that was what the contact was all about, did not part ways with me badgering me. A few have wanted my name. I don't given them my number unless they ask for it. I give them my NAME. You want to call my boss. His name is such and such. This is his phone number. Fill your boots.

Over my 25 + years of policing, I probably handed out tickets in the tens of thousands, even though only 1/3 of my service was traffic related. I have thrown hundreds in jail either temporarily or caused them to be sentenced as a result of a good investigation, to longer periods in jail. I have had probably 2 dozen official complaints brought against me. One was found to be "founded" but for the wrong reason. And before it even got that far, I was prepared to sit and apologize to the initial party for what was perceived as being uncaring attitude. BTW, This person did not bring the complaint against me. A third party did. A few complaints were criminal in nature by people off their meds but they had to be investigated regardless, even when their own families came to my defence. Two went to the RCMP Public Complaints Commission which is civilian. These were unfounded. One was because I caught some middle aged pervert whacking his tack in down town in the presence of a 10 year old girl. I mean fuck. And his complaint went right to Ottawa...Give me a break.

I don't know how many LEO's there are in the USA. I suspect there are in the neighbourhood of 40,000 or so in Canada. Assuming you use population and a guideline, I suspect there are somewhere near 1/2 million of them in the USA. And we have what half a dozen videos of bad cops. We have flaky expressions of what happened at roadside by one of our members here on this forum (sorry Squirrel but you posted it) and for that cops get badgered the way they do. Pull out your guns boyz and protect your own homes family and daughters. We don't need no fucking cops anymore.

My rant is over. I am tired. And un-subscribed to this dribble.
