I didn't notice any loss of low end. If there is a loss, it's probrably pretty minimal. I actually feel as if the bike has more power. At least the power wheelies indicate this.....

hondawolf, what did you use to weld the end-cap back on? MIG, TIG, stick? I have never really looked at the exhaust, so I don't even know what material it is. Stainless, perhaps?

I cut mine right through about 1/2" back from the factory weld, clamped on the vice grips and, faster than you can say "too cheap for staintunes", slid the entire baffle/packing unit out completely intact!
Had my local welder dude put the end caps back on for $40.00 and she sounds EFFIN' MEAN!!!

    Madtube,I believe they are stainless steel,and it's pretty thin.That's why I didn't attempt the weld myself.(MIG)

ok so a little while ago i read threads on gutted cans ad decided to give it ago . i cut the ends off and pulled out all the pipes inside left the packing and the holy material that holds it in re welded the end pieces that i cut off and have it ago .... sounded better then stock for sure but i left the little 1 inch pipes on the end to give it a total factory look . while idleing u could hear it still was a little restriced ( exhaust ) the sound didnt quite sound what i was looking for , i was looking for a deep rumble ,almost the same sound as when i took the pipes right off and started it for shits and giggles just to see what it sounded like . so i thought i would try taking a circular drill bit a 1 1/2 in and cut the little pipes at the end right off like some on the foarm did . shit what a differance , i totaly recomend if u are gonna do a full gutting of the cans you would be a fool to leave the little pipes on the end on . the bike almost sounds like a little v8 rumbles low and has bark man .
i was suprised how thin the SS was the 1 1/2 inch bit cut threw it in no time !
