MD, Is the super hawk fan a bolt on? I reversed the wires temporarily and it works, but doesn't blow as well backwards. ( fan design?)

Please help me to understand, Are you guys actually experiencing high oil temps?
I know most VFRS's (coolent) run on the hot side, but I was not aware that the oil
temps. were out of hand also. How have you checked your actual oil temp? Coolent
temp and oil temp are not directly related,so if you are baseing oil temp via your
coolent temp gauge, I believe you are baseing it on inaccurate data. eddie

If you guys are serious about reducing oil temp, take a look at a web site called
Flex a lite ,they are located in Washington state and at first look have some very
    slick units. eddie

I haven't rigged up a gauge to monitor oil temp. I'm only thinking about a larger oil cooler to dump more heat from the engine.
I've been a Honda (car) mechanic for 25 yrs and if a civic ran that hot I'd be concerned about it.

I took the bike on a 1k mi trip to Vt last week and she ran like a top. So maybe I'll watch the road for a while and not the temp Gauge!!!

So, got the 01 RC51 oil cooler yesterday. Five pass instead of three.
Had to fabricate a small bracket since the VFR cooler has an offset hanger.

The RC51 feeder tubes are larger than the VFR. Say 10mm over 9mm.
Used the 10mm orings and carefully reassembled. No leaks. The tube flanges are same size on both, so no issue bolting the VFR tubes to the RC-51 cooler.

The five row hangs down a little farther and I had to tweak the left feed tube (left as sitting on the bike) since the cooler opening is slightly askew.

Hope to get out this weekend to test her out.
