Affordable,,,well that is a bit of a different story and why I can understand the recommendations to make a jump to a more modern bike - but - you can fix 'em if one is up to the challenge.

Water has a specific gravity close to 1.0 and oil is around 0.9. Water is more dense than oil.

If anyone is unsure about how Oil reacts in water, take a swim in the gulf. :frown:

Well I think almost any problem can be solved by throwing money at it.

I did really like the feel of my VF500, and if there were readily available Valve train parts that were affordable I may have gone that route. But in the end it would have been a bad idea I think. The engines aren't known to last very long.

Slow, I totally understand this and I am glad that the sale of your VF500F worked out and that you are enjoying your VFR750.

This said, I think most owners who have vintage bikes understand the pros and cons of owning one.

I don't think of custom modifications as throwing money at something simply to solve what many here consider a Promethean task.

More, I'm interested in turning a wrench and building something custom while making a few friends along the way. I have a lot of fun thinking about, working on and riding bikes.

Working on a 25 year old bike isn't for everybody but I believe the satisfaction and enjoyment that this brings is close to the hearts of many a First Gen owner.

Now shake the shit out of the glass and watch it turn to milk. Just like the the oil and water mix does in your engine with the crank and gears turning and churning.

Really Donald, come on. If you are really going to sit there and argue that it doesn't mix in your motor then put your money where your mouth is. Get the video camera, pour a cup of water in your engine. Start it up and run it around for 5 minutes, then pull the oil plug immediately afterword and show us how the water was just sitting there waiting on the bottom unmixed with the oil.

    lol :pound:

nope. But we don't have to. The crank and gearset spinning around, oil flinging around off the cam chain and spilling back down from the heads, the spinning of the clutch and flywheel do it all for us.
