No, that isn't what I'm saying at all. They are a direct bolt on. My fitment issues with the headers were that the guy sent me the wrong downpipes when I originally bought them. That slowed me down in my installation process as I had to track down a set of 5th gen downpipes to go with the rest of the headers.

The fitment issues that I have are concerned strictly with the Laser's. Toe Cutter can attest to their shoddy alignment issues. Mine are quite mild compared to his and easily rectified but I simply haven't had the time.

If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't use the 98-99 headers unless I was on a strict budget. I'd go get me a set of Motad's or Delkevics and take them to be ceramic coated new out of the box. The Delkevics are only about 50-60 bucks more than a set of used 98-99 headers and come as stainless steel. I wasn't thinking when I bought my 98-99 headers or I would have went that route instead.

Absolutely awesome write-up, very thorough, and in the end you will have an uber-unique bike that you know a LOT more about! Thank you so much for sharing.

You now have me convinced to do the PAIR and evap can removal. I smell another winter project...

    Cheers!

I really wish that I had the time to do all of this separately so that I could tell exactly what each mod done was. I have the dyno available for me to do a few pulls here and there so it wouldn't be hard for me to gather the information but I just have so little time available that I couldn't. I had hoped to be able to do a single mod then do a dyno.. then another... and do a dyno. There just isn't any evidence out there as to what each mod does specifically for hp, torque, surging, mpg, etc. At least in the end I will have a before/after dyno, if the shop can find my old dyno pulls lol.

The uniqueness is what drew me to the lasers to begin with and when I found out that I purchased the last set available in the U.S. it made it even more attractive for me as I know there are only a handful of them around in the U.S. and nobody else will have them in the future. I'm not even close to being done with mods for the bike as this was just pertaining to the exhaust portion of things. Unfortunately I've been off work for over 2 years now and been spending most of my time taking care of friends and family in lieu of finding a job. Once I do find a job I will be more actively modding the shit out of the bike from head to toe. I do find it quite funny that I have less free time unemployed than I did working 40+ hrs a week.

Thanks for the great write up.
Thought I might do the pair mod etc next winter and a set of Delkevics. This info will help.
Would be really interesting to have data on each mod - time is the enemy.
