That would work but your still trapped by the extra resistance of the large gage wire and that solder joint. I personally wouldnt do that. If your looking to improve grounding there are better ways but the frame does suffice. What you can do which would be better is to join several wires into the same ring and crimp then solder that. It will reduce the ring connectors and no extra 4mm wire thus no (very little) extra resistance.

The best solution is still many ring connectors, but solder them into a single stack. Then cover in battery terminal goop. But this has the issue of troubleshooting. Since you cant easily separate grounds.

I think we're talking different languages mate.
There is only one ring terminal and one solder joint, before that there was 20 or so little connectors which are now soldered.
The original wire going to the frame with a ring terminal is still there, together with the new earth wire to the battery, but now soldered to all the other earth wires instead of joining up through the earth block.
Ther must be a lot less resistance now without the earth block.
All I can tell you is that I kept having issues with the clock and trip meter resetting, and the instrument lights dimming, and FI light glowing with the blinkers untill I did this.
It's been a year now and I've had no more problems.
Sometimes you can really overcomplicate something by looking too deep into it.

True, but then again sometimes knowing a bit more can help fix a problem.

On VFR750 RC36 (mines a 1995) the clock can go off due too corrosion/damage to printed circuit board on the back of the instrument cluster. There are three connections to the clock - one being to the battery if this is corroded or damage the clock will go off when the ignition is switched off. Just ordered some Copper Foil Tape For Electrical Repairs With Conductive Adhesive to see if a can repair the damaged/corroded part on the printed circuit board.

Hi and welcome to the Madhouse:Welcome:.

You seem to be replying to a very old thread hence I suspect that by now the issue has been resolved. However it is great to see anyone coming up with new solutions to old problems especially problems which are as common as the clock resetting.

When you get time, please post over in the Introductions forum - please tell us a bit about you and your riding history - and don't forget to include a photo or two of your VFR. The folks on here like photos and it is easy - just click the "upload a file link" then follow the prompts to select and upload images from your computer. Choose "More options" to decide how your image will be displayed.

You may want to update your forum profile to include an approximate location - county/town is ample - so that it appears automatically by your posts. Then if you need help with an issue you may find someone living nearby is willing to swing by and offer advice or even pick up a wrench - especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge:drink:.

In the meantime - ride safe ATGATT
