well, since you asked.... no. actually, we are waiting for someone to write another chat prg that has that feature, but so far, nada.
Yeah I want my pink back too, and the shortcut button should read shortycuts like it used to (lol), AND now the chat doesn't work at all for me, in any browser, after deleting all cookies and whatnot.... WTF It just worked earlier tonight!

thats because you have been banned from chat........... you don't show up any more so there was a rebellion and you were overthrown...but we will still keep you around as the VFRW love slave........... other folks are having the same problem.they can log on but not chat? are these people on the ignore list ar what ever it is ? I know I disabled my chat when the new site sarted up and I hit a hot key and it silenced me until reg unlocked it.... jsut saying
the smilies are there long you jsut have to remember what they are..as you would type them.... for example ... ound: is : pound : (remove the spaces) or this one.... is : worthless : (remove spaces) or your favorite :xxx: : xxx : (remove the spaces) if you cant remember them you can click Reply on a thread then go advanced it will give you the smilies... the you can write down you favorite ones...... but it would be easier to have them in the chat already... but here is the answer from the mods: we are waiting for someone to write the chat program that will accomadate these things" Crusty out
There is a button that brings up the menu, it isnt easy to find, but once I find it again ( ill look for it ) I will post the procedure here.
here's my issue with the smilies. one of the biggest complaints I got on the old chat was that it lagged. every single outreference is going to send the software looking for a file i.e. a smilie is a small graphic, but you multiply that times 100 users getting the 7 smilies that you just typed, then you are getting 700 calls to the graphics storage area where I put the smilies. Now, you add in the polling time to load 100 of the chat windows that show nothing but smilies and you can see why it takes a second or two to get the last chat messages. We are already getting some concerns that this chat lags, and this chat is drastically less cpu intensive than our old one. Now, if we add colors and smilies, I expect we are gonna see more slowdown. So, hopefully, my "need more speed" post will help some, but I'm not sure. We have had executive board meetings and generally come to the same conclusion. We want to offer the chat because it is an extremely popular part of vfrworld, but we want to keep the site as fast as possible with all the features our users have come to expect.
