Those VT600 needle/seat are way to short. There is not enough leverage from the float tab at those angles to keep the needles closed. Not to mention the ID of the seat also makes some difference in how fast they fill. Get back to stock height seats/needles. When you adjust the floats the carbs should be close to 45 degree angle and the float just touches the center pin but does not compress it.

It's important too that the float tang not contact the needle plunger at too great an angle: in other words, the nearer to a 90 degree angle between them the better.

Look the doode inherited someone elses finger fucked-up carbs. I mean, SHIT he is trying to adapt some honda cruiser float needles to a VFR carb right? Correct me if I am wrong but this is going the wrong way  Side bar note: I tried using a VT750 R/R on my VFR and the charge of 14.4 or so came on at 2000 RPM. The current re-placement R/R comes on at 14.7 or so at 5000 RPM just like the gud book says.

Used this example for the reason that each bike has its own requirments (dont know if the VT750 Reg was doa-as I dont have the book for this model) Anyway all the semantics aside, either shit or get off the pot right? You can get a scrap set of carbs off Ebay, buy my old float needles, buy new float needles from Honda, buy em from K&L. Or you could borrow one of my Glocks and put yourself out of your misery :2guns:

scrap the carbs ...go to a yard and get a different set..... give them a cleaning and call it good

if you bought it this way there is no telling what the guy did to it... parts are probably switched between the carbs shit is probably put together wrong. get another set.. you will be happier and the bike will run.....

I have a set of 3rd gen carbs I was getting ready to put on ebay to raise funds for the 5th gen project. They are a 1991 California model.

I was re reading your post.
I had this same problem on my VF1000R.
    No start with choke on.

    It was the choke plungers.

BTW... a choke on older style carbs would close a butterfly and make a richer mixture.
Now on all of these newer carbs, you pull the choke and it pulls the "enrichment plunger"

IT does the same thing but works completely differently.

Please do not "scrap" the carbs.
Someone else may want to rebuild those.
Just because you cannot figure it out does not mean they are not repairable.

I agree about not using a float needle set from another motorcycle.
    That is crazy.

But the carbs can be rebuilt by a good mechanic as long as they were not drilled or altered.

The words that you use are very strange to me. "Finger-Fucked-Up-Carbs"
I could understand the !!@!@$ part but not the FINGER part ......strange.
Oh well I guess it has something to do with the place you live in?

Dude not doode. Any way I usually like what you say. I agree and others may agree that taking a part from another motorcycle (float needle) that is not the same ,and using it as a fix is just going backwards one more step.

Some people just do not understand that a float needle is a VERY precision part and MUST be REPLACED if you want the carbs to work correctly and be safe in your garage at night.
