I'm kinda tired of people comparing the price of gas to other products we use. For example; coffee, toothpaste, mouthwash, super glue. Yeah, I agree paying $5.00 for a Starbucks coffee is outrageous and I don't do it. But Starbucks has always been expensive, gas hasn't. $2.00 for a tube of toothpaste. How many ounces is that? 12? If so, that's over $32 a gallon. But how much do you actually use. A tube of toothpaste will last my family month. Not so true with gas now is it.
How expensive is gas going to get before something is done about it. None the oil companies are hurting for cash!

I hate to say it but this is good!!!! Maybe this country will finally wake up and do something!! Stop buying oil from the mid east and let them choke on it. Start doing something and make more efficient cars.

Stop borrowing money from China. realize this is war and join together like we did during WW 2.

We will fall far and hard if we don't.

My point with the comparison of gas vs coffee was that it bithers me when people complain about the price of gas, but continue to spend more $$$ on things such as coffee. Sorry it is just something that really bothers me, I guess it stems from my Mom's coffe addiction, and her incessant griping about the price of gas. Unfortunately there's not too much the U.S. is going to do about it. I remember when gas was nearing $3.00 the press kept saying that was the psychological price, and that people's driving habits would change. Well not it's approaching $4.00/gallon, and I don't see much change. Americans like the freedom of driving too much. We are a car culture. The U.S. needs to pull it's head out of it's a$$ and get priorities straight. In the military we keep getting tested against 1950's metrics that no-longer apply to today's world, why? Becuase they're measurable, and the people in charge are too afraid to make that kind of drastic change. Big business now runs this country, and will continue to do so, unless a major change happens. Flame away!!!

So you know where I stand....I'm not just sitting and bitching about the price of gas...I am bitching about our lack of new refineries, the way the Big 3 still doesn't have a clue and it kickin' out 300 hp cars and trucks left and right, and the way we cannot get out of this never-ending war....etc...I guess I just felt the need to get my bizzle on. Plus I really wanted to get LGN's panties in a bundle! The cost of gas on the rise (and the dropping dollar) makes everything we buy more expensive pretty much. More cost to transport, more cost to buy. One way or another, the cost gets passed onto us.

BTW, I don't buy 5 dollar coffees/teas/lemonades etc. I am a cheapass bastage. I prefer good old H2O and/or OJ in the morning. I used to work with loads of coffee drinkers and they were grumpy people in the morning...I vowed not to become one of them....hahaha. I also try to by from some of the non large mega retailers when I can to create more competiton.....competition is a good thing for businesses.

douglasthecook, i see your point about the coffee. My gf loves starbucks, i'd rather make coffee at home, then i don't have to leave the house for a drink. She probably spends enough on weekly starbucks for a tank of gas. The only time I get starbucks for coffee out, is when I have gift cards or at a restaurant. But ya, many of us don't realized how much we spend in other ways.

I have embraced the future. I am buying saddle bags today and will be commuting on the VFR. Not that the 93 accord is a gas hog, but I spend alot of time switching back and forth, so I decided to stick to the bike this riding season to attempt to lessen the blow.

    hee hee, he said 'blow'

Now we have capitalism-democracy,rich is getinn richer, poor is getin porer, aaaaahhhhhhh crazy world....
