    two big questions remain unanswered...

    1) How fast will a VFR go, top speed...

    2) Why is a black Gen3 so much faster than a red Gen4 ?

There's a difference with you Reg; you're not "dangerous". At least I don't think you are; I'm never close enough to see what you're doing from the back of the pack! (OK, bad example...)

“Riding is ultimately about relying on a sense of self-preservation to prevail. In a society that often seems bent on imagining that citizens can somehow be protected from any calamity if they’ll only acquiesce to all-knowing socialist nanny state-entitled to sue if anything goes wrong-we choose to open our eyes to danger, call our own shots and take our own lumps. Living by our wits and sometimes dying with our boots on, we wouldn’t have it any other way”.

-Dave Searle, Editor of Motorcycle Consumer News

This quote sits in my cubicle on the wall. Its part of what got me thinking about the mentality many skilled riders embody.

I thought it would be a great capstone to this thread.

It's illegal to drag a knee here in Ga. They consider it reckless driving.

The GA troopers must be forgiving with this "illegal" activity. During the same trip where the vidoes were taken, three of us came up and over 129 in GA on our knees while passing a cop in the other direction. He came to a complete stop but never pursued. Lucky day for us I guess?

It wasn't long ago (couple months or so) that a guy was running a good clip up and down 129. He passed a couple GSP cars going the other way. They called another on a radio, and when he saw the motorcyclist, he tried to turn in front of him. He clipped the rider, running him off the road and killing him.

GSP isn't even who I really worry about. There have been many times that they've set up speed traps, road blocks and have even used choppers a time or two. Some days I go up there and can rail all day log. Other days, I can be up there and hour and know that I need to move on up to TN, NC or other less used GA roads. Most of it is luck of the draw. I've been pulled over for going 25 over and got a good lecture. There's no rhyme or reason. Some of the cops are very biker friendly....some aren't.

I stay off the more well known roads during the "busy" times. Most people think the Dragon and 129 in GA are the only good roads. I hope they keep thinking that. I can name 2 or 3 roads in the GA/TN/NC triangle that I like more than the Dragon, and I can ride them all in a good 400 mile day.

I've never experienced the GSP on a bike but I have in a car...it involved me sleeping aT 80+ MPH the officer's svc revolver, my ear , and a thermos full of coffee, with no speeding ticket after we parted ways

Anyway they seemed to be (AT THAT TIME) PRETTY COOL

Lol. I'd like to hear more on this story. The Georgia State Patrol are generally pretty good guys. They aren't even up there all that much. It's mainly the times of the year that the idiot fair weather riders come out. I can usually have all the fun I want in the Winter months. It still comes down to picking your places to have fun, and the places to lay low. I also take my medicine when it's time, but I've been good/fortunate enough that.....ahh.....knock on wood.

Here in SoCal, and back in Illinois where I grew up (not exactly a Mecca of twisty roads) a cop can, at his/her discretion, write you up for "exhibition of speed" for dragging a knee, doing a wheelie, doing a burnout, etc..
