Ya know, my wife's family had some pretty serious hippy/ liberals that I go round and round with (her one Aunt in particular, then cousins, uncle, etc.) all in good conversation, even though it gets heated. I'll never forget this past election her Aunt brought up the ideal canidate. I asked well who is that? She said it was someone we didn't appreciate at the time, but if Barry Goldwater was around I'd vote for him. I about fell over.

To me that speaks volumes.

it was probably cut off squirrel, because it started ti get a little to heated...My guess..I didn't read it because I knew that that is what was gonna happen....that being said.. This is a "public" forum and people can feel free to say what they want and have their own opinions...where the line is drawn, is if it gets to the point where someone is uncomfortable....then for the "enjoyment of all" the Moderators pulled the thread... anyway we have all seen it before, maybe the discussion can be brought back up and people can maintain their sanity and demeanor while commenting and posting..

I made some comments there but I certainly wasn't heated and I didn't take anyone else's comments as heated. I figure we're all riding VFR/VF's so we must be pretty sensible people, just a friendly discussion. :thumbsup:

This thread has convinced me though to pop in my Mad Max dvd. Had to look around a few years back for the undubbed version to replace an ancient VHS dubbed tape. :biggrin:

 

Dubbed...Undubbed, was the original in Italian ?

 

The original here in the US was dubbed over with American voice. :crazy: Just got the original Australian version a few years ago on dvd.

 

Thats hilarious then again it came out before Crocodile Dundee so shouldn't be supprising. :smile:

When I was a very young teenager, my then future father-in-law was a strong Goldwater supporter. Of course, I was a typically vacant young idealist who wanted to save the world by singing kumbaya (sp?) to the enemy. Sure got over that quickly. I did, however, listen to my f-i-l's point of view and learned a lot. This put me on the path to conservatism, and I will be eternally grateful to him for that. Barry would certainly be on my very short list for President. Is there another like him out there somewhere?

Moving right along..

A Wiki-Bio on Mel Gibson IMO,indicates that perhaps the major reason the US verson of "Mad Max" was dubbed using "American" voices was not because Gibson had a "thick" accent. The bio indicates he was born in the US and emigrated to OZ when he was twelve. Also, he studied acting at what looks like one of the better schools in OZ.

We see skilled actors often in roles where various accents are used. Of late, 3:10 to Yuma comes to mind, with Russell Crowe as Batman and Christian Bale as Robin.
